This did the trick:

Smart Electronix Freewire 0.02 beta :D (linked through the Wayback Machine, so hurry up and get it before the link disappears... or something :)).

(if somebody finds a better a better version, PLEASE let me know ;)).

Anyway, I'm sending audio from an insert slot in Cubase to an insert slot in Logic and vice versa. Works like a charm between, at least, Cubase, Logic and EnergyXT.

The latency is not very pretty, but maybe I'll live. Maybe ;). Since so many programs/plugins have failed to provide satisfactory results, I'm happy just as long as I'm getting a stream through :). Maybe later someone will provide a low-latency alternative as well?

Try it out for yourselves!

Cool - not heard of that one - is it like an open source Rewire then? Great idea if it is.

I'm still holding out for Pulsar II - think it should work.

Tobybears Mixback is supposed to work between apps but it wouldn't play ball for me either - don't know why - must ask tha man I suppose :)

What does Pulsar II have that its predecessors don't have, in order to solve this problem? Virtual audio busses? Well, at least one could hope for minimal latency in that case :).

A problem with Freewire is the matter of setting up multiple instances. MixBox numbers each instance but Freewire doesn't do that. So everything you send will probably wind up in every instance you have set up. It does have an 8 channel version, though. Maybe that'll help.

The Pulsar II allows you to route any input to any output, but not any output to any input. If you could route outputs back into inputs, then that help. The other problem is what drivers to use since the ASIO driver is not multi client either.
