Hi,
Does anybody know of any good links for some techniques used for sampling Pianos( mic placement/types, sampler software etc)? I can't find a great deal using yahoo etc.
I was going to use Halion (early versions of gigasampler had problems with midi log velocity curves as far as I know and I think I like halion better) ...although I would have liked to incorporate a string/ body convolution function into pedalling...As I understand the latest version of gigastudio can use gigapulse to achieve this.....Are there any other ways/ tricks/ problems?
thanks,

Check out the forum at Northernsounds.com. (In the Sample Libraries section, search for "piano."
Do research on recording a piano. (Which is after all what sampling is.)
I wouldn't expect to find an absolute consensus about how to record a piano, in any event. Different players and engineers like different sounds.
