Waves limiters are quite good.

Another recommendation for No. 6. It's free, it's awesome :)

Indeed. The sonic fingerprint is still sought after by many.

Like Ren Vox, Ren Comp and many others, they have achieved a kind of “classic” status. Much in the same that you can have classic analogue units, like an 1176.

Waves aren’t alone here. Digital has been around for so long that many of the new “classics” are plugins.

My L2 gets used on every track. Sometimes use the L1 sparingly on the drum buss as well.
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

limiter 6 by tokyo dawn labs is fantastic sounding and has razor-sharp control with almost no distortion what-so-ever.

also: a secondary attribute, but i really like the GUI

Damn right! And it has a clipper to boot.

FabFilter L is another one to consider along with IK Multimedia's Brickwall and White 2A.

I always use FAB L2 on the master bus but on individual tracks I use the free Limiter no 6 quite often. Limiter no 6 does a fantastic job and it's not only a limiter. It has a Compressor, 2 x Limiters, Clipper and a Protection module.

Really depends what you want your limiter to do for you. Are you using it just for mixing purposes? Or are you wanting to master with it? If its the latter you may want to consider dishing out a few more bucks for something that does ISP or True Peak limiting. Fabfilter's Pro-L 2 and Invisible Limiter are both great offerings... I'd check out Newfangled Elevate bundle form Eventide as well, they've just updated the limiter to handle ISP's now in 1.5 and its an amazing piece of gear.

Hi, Nate!

Sorry for othe OT but I just wanted to say that your new Shadow Chronicles project is really very good! I'm very glad that you are back to making psytrance. :tu:  Hope there will be Shadow Chronicles LP any time soon.

On topic, I think Izotope Ozone Maximizer is quite good, it has different modes which you can choose depening on your source material. And it has true peak limiting too.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Great to see Nate among us. 8)
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

I have several as alluded to a while back. But I've got to say I keep getting value out of the ones I have. If I have time I audition them and choose the best one for the song.

Just yesterday, I was comparing a few and opted for the older IK Brickwall limiter. It has a few algorithms, to choose from, but the point I wanted to put across is just because something is older, doesn't make it invalid or any less useful. So don't be afraid to consider some of the older, potentially "cheaper" options.

^I know, but I don't have that amount of £ to spend or the CPU cycles to run it (demoed it a while ago and I remember it being way way hungrier than Pro-L 2).

DDMF NoLimits is my go-to look-ahead limiter. I love that thing. The lovely subtle saturation always works as a perfect finishing touch.
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!
