I'm not looking for a plugin or a host. Just a simple standalone drum machine with easy patterns to operate in lieu of a metronome. Something I can work out my finger style guitar playing arrangements with.
Thanks

While running portastudio 15 years ago I use PC Drummer:
http://pcdrummer.com/
Best interface to program, both realtime and stepprogramming patterns.
Drag-n-drop patterns to songs, make while loops for a section etc.
Generate midi or audio from it, once done.
Maybe it says on link if windows 10 is ok as well.

You can try LeafDrums http://www.leafdigital.com/software/leafdrums/
(unknown whether it will install on Win10...)

There's Hydrogen, which is available for Windows, Mac and Linux:

Melda Drummer can run standalone and is also a VST. Pricey, but well worth it IMHO. And the software support is phenomenal.

I think he said he's not looking for a plugin or a host, just a standalone drum machine.

Thanks to all
I've found my solution with software I already own...
GuitarPro
It's more work than I expected but it provides what I need it to do.
I simply create new files with basic drum patterns and use the loop function.
About a third of the guitar arrangements I play are already in GP and GP compatible formats (PTB,TEF)
Another 3rd are PDF. The last third I usually work out for myself without transcribing. When trying to memorize a song for performance sometimes sheet music or midi based representations get in the way because one keeps looking at the score.
