-GlaceVerb
I just love the sound of this reverb. It always seems to work. It sounds both natural and synthetic and can work in either context. It didn't take a lot of fussing around to get a beautiful rich sound from it. I have used some advanced and expensive contemporary reverbs but none of them sound as good to me as old GlaceVerb.
-Kjaerhus Classic Compressor
Obviously this one is very simple in terms of both sound and functionality, but it always seemed to work well for me. What would you say sounds and acts the closest of the currently available equivalents?
Also, I am aware of the controversy so please forgive me for bringing up that name.
I am just speaking about the tool and not the man.
-Cakewalk Boost 11
This one is a long shot but anyway, this was included with Sonar 8 Producer Edition and was supposed to be a mastering limiter which was a complete joke. What it really did was smash the hell out of whatever you fed it in a grungy yet very interesting sort of way. I have many alternatives but none are quite the same. I'm just wondering if there is anybody out there that abused this thing the way I did and has a specific recommendation for a replacement.
I figured KVR is the only place out there where I could possibly find any opinions on this topic.
Thanks for any thoughts on the matter.
