So maybe one question about WUP: If the price for 1 plugin update is 10$ after 1 year - does it mean it’s 20$ after 2 years and so on? If your plugins are more than 1 year “outdated” the capping doesn’t apply?

I think it's important to point out - for mixed V9 and V10 installations - after you update some of your plugs to V10, DO NOT let Waves Central delete the V9 stuff (it will ask you at the end of the process).
I accidentally did this, because I wasn't paying attention :?

I got everything working by:
- uninstalling everything
- re-installing only the V9 plugs from my offline V9 folder
(the V10 Waves Central seems OK with this if you had made a offline install folder with your previous Waves Central)
- then installing the V10 ones from "online".

I went through various stages of having both (V9 and V10) versions of everything installed for a while, as I tried to just selectively uninstall and reinstall things, but then I bit the bullet and did the process described above. Also, Waves Central was deleting my shell files (Windows here) so make sure you have backup copies of your V9 shell files, or know where to find them under C:\Program files (x86)\Waves etc

Waves Central is a pain in the ass - but you can get there eventually

I didn't bother uninstalling the V9 plugins that I was able to update to V10, and notice the update actually overwrites the older ones anyway - Even though a plugin still shows under the V9 waveshell subfolder in the DAW, if you load it and go to the 'about' by clicking the Waves logo it'll show it as being V10.

I had both V9 and V10 installed, and the "about" confirmed it! Bizarre :?
A bit fried in the higher freqs

Yeah mine has a mixture of both V9 & V10 in the 'WaveShell-VST 9.6_x64' subfolder on Ableton (the V9 ones being plugins I didn't have a valid WUP for, v10 for the ones I did), then just the V10 ones I had a valid WUP in the 'WaveShell-VST 10_x64' subfolder

My mistake was saying "yes" to the "do you want to delete the V9 stuff?" question.
(I know I shouldn't have....)
That left me with the V10 updated plugins, but the V9 ones were gone!

Then I started going in circles for a while (trying to re-install just the V9 ones etc etc)

EDIT: One thing that would be handy in Waves Central, would be a selective *uninstall*.
You can do a selective install, but you can only uninstall everything (well, now you can uninstall all V9, and/or all V10)

Thanks for posting about this... I could have easily done the same if I hadn't been forewarned by your post. It is so easily to click your way into trouble. I am glad you got it sorted and thank you for saving me from myself. - Scotty

No. If in 6 years you wanna re-wup to get v11 you´ll pay the same 1-year-fee as you would now.

The thing with WUP which makes me angry... the discount the plugins all the time but with WUP they set the list price as a reference ... Paying a couple of $$$ for WUP for every upgrade from old plugins are ok for me. But not like 15$ per plugin that is sold for 29$ usually.

Ahh ok, so it's not that horrible (still doesn't mean it's good :ud: )

consider that niceness is its own reward

Hi YotamL,

nice to have you here. Thumbs up.

But I guess you already noticed that most of us dislike the always on WUP behavior. I like your plugins, I can even understand WUP to some extend. It's great that you support all your plugins over a long period of time, thats really great.

But paying 15$ WUP for a 29$ (always on sale....it's never sold for the original price) isn't nice and it's the reason I don't get more Waves plugins. I don't like the pricing structure with WUP. Paying a small fee for WUP is ok, but that's too much currently.

Hi Yotam, can you guys please stop with this WUP nonsense...ok if it was maxed at 50$ but 225$ is a bad joke...I'll not WUP and don't think I'll purchase anything from you again...
