I recently purchased the NI KOMPLETE 2 package. Since I had already bought 5 NI instruments. I applied 4 of my previous instruments(Reaktor, Absynth, Pro 52/53, Kontakt) to get the deal of 339.00. Therefore, I had FM7 which was not included on my purchase. HOWEVER, when I loaded the new K2 into my system I only loaded, Spektal Delay, Vokotar, B4, and Battery. Since all the others were already on my system. I found out today after trying to sell my FM7 that my original registration for FM7 was merged with the K2 registration. So technically it can't be sold.
My main point to all K2 upgraders be sure to Uninstall any NI instruments which were not included in your purchase, therefore, they will get new registration numbers and you can keep your old registrations seperate and sell them.
Maybe this is not new news to any of you, but I figured I'd post it just in case.

I wonder what NI would think of this. It's not really legal I guess. Would anyone buying get a registration from NI, I wonder?

I'm almost sure about this NOT being legal as well.
I mean, you get the special Komplete 2 price because you allready have some of their plugins, so you don't have to pay twice for them... you don't get the special price only to sell the ones you allready have and eventually pay nothing at all.

nope, your licenses for previous versions are merged with komplete2.
i'd rather have a mullet than a comb-over.

The point was that he had 4 other NI instruments that were used for the upgrade. FM7 was a 5th NI instrument he owned which was NOT used for the upgrade. There should be no problem in selling that, but it sounds like the NI registration system screwed up and included it in his K2 registration also.

Your right rockin1. I followed everything legally. All I had to do was uninstall my original FM7 and let the Komplete 2 reinstall it's FM7 liscense for me. I knew it would merge my Kontakt, Absynth, Reaktor and Pro 53..but since it also included my FM7, I got screwd.

Oh, now I see - sorry!
But then, one tip: KEEP your old FM7 for now!
The one coming with Komplete 2 will NOT load songs made with previous FM7 versions properly!
You can just install the old one in addition, just give it a subfolder in your VST plugin directory to sit in - in that case your old songs will load fine.
Btw, when did you buy FM7?
Seems I bought it early enough so I didn't have to go through any copy protection hassle others than entering my serial and putting in the CD every now and then (no online authorisation required).

My FM7 only requires the serial number, same with my Reaktor3(dongle), Absynth, and Pro 52/53. But the guy I sold it to wanted to upgrade, so I bought it back. Interestingly the women at NI stated he could still use it...he just couldn't upgrade.
