I've been trying to find a good kick and snare for ever!! literealy for ever. Im going crazy. What is the best one shot kick and/or snare library out there? I mean the best that you have ever heard. The one that high quality producers use, like BT, or Tiesto.

I know BT has released a sample cd but i know those are not one shot samples. And if anyone has tried his sample cd, how is it? (not just great or awsome, i mean how is it in technical terms)

Post

Its good mate, very. Both his CD's are top notch, but i do often question used able they are. I mean, Breaks from the Nu Skool is brilliant stuff, but useful only if you need totally premade beats. I think most people prefer a little more input than that. I do have both releases though, and they are great for inspiring new sound design ideas.

Tell you what - Airwave, Armin, Corsten have all used these samples in their tracks. If you've listened to any those guys then you already know most of the BT samples, well!

As for creating hits, I recommend you look to as many sources as possible. Sample them off records, synthesis them with drum synths like Stomper etc, take them from old drum machines (or find samples of), get them from sample CD's, sample them off ROMplers and workstation, download them off the net... or even create them yourself!

BT for example usually does a lot of layering. His sounds tend to come from all those sources, but of course they are totally unrecognisable once stacked up and processed. I'd imagine Tiesto does a similar thing, although I know he has sound designers work for him. He does have a 909 which i remember him saying he uses alot.

So, thats pretty much it. Some good sources that i like are:

Redrum - used all over BT's sample CD, some really nice hits.

VST Drumsynths - Stomper, CM505, Freshly Killed Beat, Limelite etc

Sample CD's - Native Synthetic Drums, Wired (bit much though for a couple of kicks)...

Websites - Hollowsun (brilliant site, loads of freebies), errr do a Google!

Hope this helps :)

Actually check out all those kits. You don't have to have battery to use them as all the wavs are there.
Anti-aliasing is for "synthmonk%ys".

MicroTonic has, quite possibly, the best library of kicks there is out there. They seem to really stand out in a mix nicely.

wimpy arcade house or flat insipid tech? Barcode think he´s breakin ground when those german clickers from Onitor, Traum, Kompakt, Ware, etc, have been doing the same thing for years... and boy they do it so much better!

Ooh, nice.

I've done sfz maps of Optimist and Ambient... Might have to play around with Optimist for a while (it's got a nice set of hihats - I want to get it onto a CC1 mapping).

Also try out the Diskodiktator Analogue Rhythm Boxes Refills. Tons and tons of samples, lots from not-so-well-known machines.

Okay, The Optimist's mapping is up and it's really nice! The Ambient Kit isn't - the author appears to have vanished so I can't get permission to publish a derived work. Oh well.

http://www.drealm.org.uk/sfz <- go here :-) (but get the samples from K-v-R first).

About the BT sample CD´s...which one would you consider to be the "best"...or most usefull?

:help:
Anyone?

i always try to stay clear of sampled kiks for
progressive or trance.

you have more control with a synth.
i find waldorf's attack is able to create brutal
kiks with a bit of tweaking.

the perfect kik for one track may be the crappy kik for another.

nutekk - true.... do you know other drums synths that has a clean output and lots of control? :)

i need lots of new kicks and samples is not they way i wanna go, iv been fiddling with dr008 drumsynth, but id like to try other synths aswell... is there any free ones that is good?

point me to the right direction :D
