There is a 30 day trial for Cubase 9.5 Pro. You already own an e-licenser from Cubase 7 so you should be able to install and run Cubase 9.5.

When I installed Cubase 7, I didn't customize any of the look at all. Whatever popped up, that's what I'm using. Are you saying Cubase 9.5 doesn't have the same look and is harder to see? As there is no demo, I want to make sure I can see everything before I buy it.
Up to version 7.5 you can go with any windows theme. But from version 8 and up you can only run it with an aero theme. I don't know about windows 7 and 8. But in Windows 10 the standard theme is an aero theme. If you use a high contrast theme the DAW will tell you it can't run on that thtteme. It doesn't support high contrast themes - or any other non-aero themes.

I've sent Steinberg several mails about this. Since it's important to me as being visually impaired. But so far there's no hope for the future.
Well, it appears that I'm using an aero theme, the default one. So I don't understand what the difference is between that and a non aero theme. And I don't have the best eyes in the world either.
Well, I need dark background and bright fonts. I With an ordinary aero theme the menu in the DAW is white.

Give it a try. Chaknge to a hight contrast theme with a dark background. Then try to open your DAW. Any version from 8 and up. And you'll see what it'll tell you.
Oh I'm sure it won't work. I was just wondering what the difference between the aero and non aero themes are visually. Honestly, even when I was on XP, which didn't yet have aero, I don't see any visual difference between it and what I have now. Maybe I'm just used to it.

Anyway, that is a problem for those visually impaired. Not sure why Steinberg did this.
I don't really know.
As I understand it the aero themes includes a lot more then just visual stuff.

I guess that other stuff is the reason why Steiberg wants to stick to the aero themes.

Well, I'm still waiting for my email from Steinberg to start my Cubase 9.5 trial but so far, nothing. I mean I COULD download it, but without an eLicensor number, doesn't do me a lot of good.

Damn, Steinberg are sneaky bastards. Before everyone buys the updates in the grace period before the next major version, they offer nice discounts on them now. :D

Just kidding, great prices. :tu:

Nine times out of ten upgrades is all about the money. The line between updates and upgrades is getting even so much thinner.

They could just as well start with subscribtions. Say $50 a year or. It's what we all are expected to pay for each ugprade anyway. Going from 9 to 9.5 to 10 to 10.50 etc.

No, I don't think so.
You can always pass on an upgrade if you feel nothing is there that is major interest.
You cannot on subscriptions - so not even close to similar.

And let's say another major difference of perpetual licenses is that you may pause on music making for various reasons, years even. And continue using that once you got your operation or whatever reason you had for the pause.

So again, no - they cannot just as well have subscriptions.

Sure - from a customer's viewpoint. Not so much for the auditor's viewpoint.

For version 10 they'äll come up with more cosmetic. We just got an improved prese tmanager in HAlion 6. As an update. For Cubase that'll go as a part of a "majojr upgrade". From a customer's viewpoint I'll be more interested in new pr9oduts rather then comsetic as an excuse.

I believe that the general idea is buy the update now but don’t activate it just yet, if you get what I mean...

That's great if it works. :)

Well, nobody here can answer my upgrade questions and 8 hours later Steinberg still hasn't sent me my demo license.

Guess I'm just meant to stay on Cubase 7.

What was your question though?

Look in your MySteinberg tab on their website, assuming you used your same email address. You temporary eLicenser number will be there.

Nothing there. Just my Cubase 7 and Absolute 3 licenses.
