I don't know man, I think we came off on the wrong foot. I don't think I want another such unpleasant endeavor "in private".

If I wanted to open my copyrighted waveforms in licensed versions of your synths to use your algorithms to mangle them, I still retain the copyright to those waveforms. What do you wanna do about it? Change copyright laws? I have no idea why you would want extra "payments" or "business" from me to make that happen. In fact, the idea sounds so awkward to me, I'd rather seek for other tools. So today we bought a site license of a different tool and we'll happily use that instead. Hence, case closed for me, not sure what you're still going on about.

Off to a nice glass of wine with my loved one. Pity though, the waveform mangling tools in Tone2 products seem superb. But business-wise, not my cuppa tea.

I am imagining a Trump-Kim style summit to negotiate a Tone2 u-he peace accord. :ud:

Aaron Sorkin is a master with words. He puts this thread to shame.

I would suspect that it was someone who posted earlier in this thread who contacted Markus directly and got him all worked up with the notion that a rival developer was looking to infringe on Tone2's intellectual property.

I believe Urs when he states that U-he was simply looking for third party audio tools to refer to their customers to use to craft new custom wavetables with, because Tone2 really does provide some fantastic wave-mangling technology. You would think that such referrals between collaborating companies would be a welcome gesture, since more sales of both Tone2 and U-he products might be the outcome of such referrals. I also think that Urs was just covering his bases by inquiring about any licensing consideration before recommending Tone2 tools to U-he customers. I fully appreciate Markus being protective of the sampled audio waveforms and apparatus which are the original property of Tone2. However, in this day and age, I think it is going overboard to insist that derivative audio waveforms originating from a Tone2 product never be allowed to be played from or processed within a non-Tone2 audio product. Derivative work is what art and creativity is all about, and restricting its use to be solely within the confines of the originating platform is creatively stifling -- and possibly detrimental to future sales -- because most artists do not appreciate being confined to unnecessary boundaries. The typical expectation of most people today is that software should be able to collaborate and integrate with other software like it.

If I am able to use audio that I create with a Tone2 product within other third party software (e.g. Harmor, Fathom, Galaxy X, Serum, Falcon, Codex, etc.), I will do so, as I believe that it is within my royalty-free license of reasonable-use to do so, since it will be for the sole purpose of using within my own music productions and not for creating sound sets to distribute to others or sell for profit. Likewise, I also believe that it is within my license of reasonable use to import derivative audio which I have created with a non-Tone2 product within a Tone2 product (such as Icarus) for use in my own music productions. :phones:

All these babies wanting the devs to talk in private, blah. For me, seeing what the devs have to say is a refreshing breath of fresh air! I wish i could see more of this type of interaction between companies more often. makes me feel like these companies are more human than i first give them credit for. It's easy to forget that people ARE behind a brand sometimes. I need more of this from devs in the future. I don't even care if some think its negative PR. I want to know what the devs are REALLY like. I respect when a dev is able to talk in a public space with us, it makes me feel like they have confidence in themselves and that they respect the other users around them enough to be a part of the conversation. Thats a good look.

Been a long time coming unfortunately. I know Markus, and I know what a good bloke he is. He genuinely wants the best for those who use T2 stuff, and he puts his whole being into creating things and keeping things progressing. There has been a lot of shit on here regards T2 stuff, that still goes one even now. And the comparisons between various companies is obviously gonna happen.

He'll always answer your questions if you email him, or post on the T2 forums, but KVR isn't a nice place to be if you like T2 stuff, too much BS, that's why there is no support here for T2 software.

In an ideal world we could all get along and none of this would happen, but humans being humans, that's not an option.
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

I'm really impressed with the demo. It can do many kinds of sounds. I've got the impression that it can sound more aggressive or more analogue than Icarus. It still can sound like Sylenth1 as well.

The presets are good and not only for the EDM crowd, so there are some nice beefy pads. Anyway, I'm not sure if I choose between Gladiator and Icarus, which one it could be. Probably I'll get one of them as they both are easy to use program without even the need for manual. The main point is the low CPU usage, so in the end I felt that Gladiator (yes, this is the one mostly ;) ) is like an extended Sylenth1 which is great to have.

Now, let's save for it :hihi:
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

That is insanely generous to make this a free update. Thank you Tone2!

If you can scrape up the dough to buy Gladiator now, you could actually purchase both of them. BestService.de is having a two-for-one sale on Tone2 products.

I wish I had this kind of offers when I first looked to buy them. Anyway, I always got good deals. I bought Gladiator second hand, and given the support done in this by Tone2 (this is by far the product the develoed more without asking for extra pauyments), I'm glad I bought it. It is also the one I like the best, still.

The one that comes next is either Electra2 or Icarus (still can't decide). Curiously, I think these two are also getting good support. The ones I value less are the ones which I have been asked to pay for upgrades (Saurus and Rayblaster). Saurus 1 was even messing with iLOK, and during the plug-in scanning shutting down the computer. This was never completely solved, so, I simply gave up of it, since I wasn't ready the shell ou 50 more to "upgrade" (comas intended). Rayblaster "upgrade" also didn't convince me.

Anyway, kudos to Tone2 for Gladiator 3. And I commned this to anyone wanting to try a synth really able of some original sounds.

@ Markus. Please reconsider your policy regarding the EULA and user rights. There are restrictions that can harm more Tone2 than the users. I am not thinking in sampling and selling anything, but I know I feel pissed every time I read such restrictions on a EULA. And I know I'm not alone.

This is so funny. I'm only missing 1 Tone 2 synth. LOL
