For 16-bit files I doubt if there's any noticeable sound difference between a 320kbps VBR joint-stereo mp3 and its 16-bit wav equivalent, and that mp3 file is less than 20% the size of the wav file.

There is a noticeable difference on decent monitors.

What Is The Best Audio Format For Smallest Size And Best Quality??
