Perhaps it just needs an H.R. Giger inspired UI like the one had by the great audio controlled synthesizer, Antares Kantos:

The format is unconventional which, for some, may be confusing, but the main thing going for it is it doesn't assault the retinas in that eye melting fashion we see a lot of in home made skins.

It is a 32-bit only VST, so you just might dig it.
