First steps?

I'm unfamiliar with music production communities but would like to change that and hopefully learn to make something that doesn't make my friends' faces turn into question marks.

I imagine an open-ended course (preferably not in video form), sharing with others and discussing my results and theirs. Anything like that?

I use Cubase 9 on a hobby basis to make contemporary hip-hop style beats from scratch digitally, but community is more important than genre, and music is more important than technique (I can learn software on my own). I don't mind paying for something.

"Just use search" gives me information overload. I'm lost. Sorry for breaking any rules with this post .
