I would definitely recommend Burnley73 but the Black Rooster pre is on another level. I'm going to try using the VPRE-73 with the eq section of Burnley73. Could be an interesting experiment. Maybe paired with the Neve console in Slate VCC.

The "Vintage EQ which comes with LOGIC PRO" is NOT a plug-in, not even an AU plug-in. It demands LOGIC PRO (its part of it), which demands a Macmartinjuenke wrote:I recommend the Vintage EQ which comes with LOGIC PRO...
Since the OP demanded a "VST" he most likely is a Windows user

You'd have to decide yourself what's the best. Here's a few suggestions.
Gold 2
Acustica Audio Navy
TDR VOS SlickEQ has a British setting and a N 1081 preset, and various saturation options. It even has a Pre73 preset (Gentleman's Edition).

The 112dB Redline Preamp sounds better than the Arturia preamp collection and the Slate Digital VPC preamps. It sounds just as good (if not better) than the UAD NEVE emulation, IMO, as well. I'm surprised no one mentioned this Dev. All of his plugs are stellar. His Big Blue compressor sounds just as good Klanghelms MJUC.

Wakey wakey
Since it's been bumped, the Slate is my personal fav. YMMV.

Waves Sheps 73 or one of the soundtoys ones; radiator or decapitator
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

I have the Sheps and it's fine, but the Slate just has a little something extra. And, a little goes a LONG way with the Slate.ramseysounds wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 11:46 pm Waves Sheps 73 or one of the soundtoys ones; radiator or decapitator

Yeah, very underated. The saturation in this comp is a very massive.dolo83 wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 10:41 pm His Big Blue compressor sounds just as good Klanghelms MJUC.
