In this case, they do. I have as much interest in buying a new synth as I do in buying a dog collar. No, I don't own a dog.

:tu: I hope this works out for you. I always felt that you never really enjoyed your ongoing hunt for the next synth.

Actually, for a long time I did. This was the most fun I had had in a very long time, especially when i was downloading all that free stuff. I went through the entire KVR database, page by page. I will never forget those days.

But something inside of me snapped. Outside of Biotek, which I have wanted for a while (waited for a sale) nothing excites me. I look at this stuff coming out and I yawn. And my days of buying synths just to make yet another library are over. I have enough synths to make libraries for years to come, which is exactly what I'm going to do.

If you have the financial means, there is absolutely no harm in that. If not, I am not completely sure if it is really fun what you are having. ;)
That‘s true. The main fun is and should be making strange noises...
My funds are actually limited.
Because there are so many sales currently (they never really stopped since that crazy Black Friday) and in the second hand market prices are falling you can grab cool things quite cheap. I actually do buy very seldom for the full price tag. The market is pretty volatile at the moment.

Yeah there have been several sales since Black Friday that have beaten the Black Friday prices quite handily, and I've been taking advantage of them. At this point I think the only things on my wishlist are gulfoss (pc version), the superior drummer 3 upgrade (come on Toontrack, give us a sale), and a Valhalla verb. I was considering joining the orange tree group buy but all I really want from them is their steel string, and I already have ample sound's agm so do I really need it? I don't think so.

That's the right question: do I really need it ?
Valhalla will not have sales, never did. In the second hand market the seldom offers for Valhalla products are quite quickly grabbed. So watch out.

So! How is your vow going?

As a weak creature with virtually no control of my affects I miserably failed and so I am obviously condemned to stay infinitely in the hell of gear addiction... :help:

Or you could just try again

There is no reason for me to buy a new synth and that is good.
But the problem is i have now more reasons to focus on sample libraries which cost more :o
But so far the year was good and i think it will be my most G.A.S. free year since a long time.

Just open your DAW and load all the synths in it whenever you want to buy a synth, then 90% your GAS will disappear. I do this all the time ;)

Also, try to check which one you used it a lot, never sell this one, but sell the least used ones and then buy instead of them. I did that recently before I buy Nemesis and RayBlaster, which I anticipate I will use them a lot. I sold two great synths but I don't use a lot and have no projects with them. I'm still selling another two synths that I don't use a lot.

So being practical and make sure you only keep what are you using, this will help a lot (at least in my case) to not let GAS dominate your soul :hihi:
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

The real limit is not money, but time:
How much stuff do you have the time to use?
Unused stuff is wasted.

This quite.

New tools would let me make different sounds and styles, but again, I didn't finish many planned projects yet though technically I can :help:

That´s true. I own Logic since years and still explore new things every day and wonder why i bought so much third party tools. Synth and FX are there about 99% i could ever need. A lot stuff is even unique and better than all third party stuff i owned, demoed.
I really wonder that there is still a market with all these tools today.
Like i said...just some bigger sample libraries (if you need/want them) are not covered really.
Everything else is in most major DAW´s i guess.
