One of the other reasons I love eXT is that it has some of the best multi-timbral support I've come across. Using the J M Orchestral soundfont on rgcaudio's sfz with 16 different instruments layered over 16 different MIDI channels is an absolute breeze. I'd like to be able to direct those different channels to different Audio Outs, but I guess that's a FR.
EnergyXT to good to be true ? Confused here....

sfz doesn't have multiple outs...XT would allow that no problem, if the plugin supported it.ceenda wrote:NicFit:![]()

sfz+ has multiple outputs for a price if you really need them.

Now that's a statement!NicFit wrote:At this time I'm still using eXT as a VSTi in my host, XT Standalone. There are too many features in my host to give up...eXT is a great plugin for layering synths and fx, but it can't replace XT Standalone as my main host yet...just a few more features missing before I can commit(aren't there always). I very happy with the development rate, so I have no doubt that someday I be able to get by with what's available...but till then I'll just continue to use eXT as a plugin in my main host, XT Standalone.

I voted yes
cause I use eXT sometimes as host and did already songs in it.
My main host is now Tracktion and in combination with eXT it is all I need.
But I think at the development speed of jorgen eXT will someday be able to replace even Tracktion and be alone satisfying my needs in audiomidiland.

I voted yes, for potential. I'm not a user of XT at all, yet, but I've bought some other stuff in early stages just because of the potential (fruityloops at 1.1, synthedit way early etc.) so I'm planning to do the same with XT. Now lemme grab my creditcard
.
Btw. Lalo, are you the same lalo as over at the synthmaker forums? Now talk about potential. I think XT+synthmaker could be THE ultimate solution for nearly anything.
Things I'd like to see developed in XT:
Sequencer:
Workflow
Workflow
Features
Workflow
Workflow
Audio clip handling
Workflow
Workflow
More resolution for some automation stuff (midi 128 is a bit limiting). OR good interpolation between values.
Workflow
Workflow
Documentation
Workflow
etc.
Everything Else
Workflow
(Screensets any1? Hotkeys to toggle instantly over different views sets in XT. That would rock!)
Cheers!

I've been trying every demo version since EXT came out. I really like the concept of EXT and from the beginning have felt it has the potential to be the most powerful sequencer on the market. I am impressed with the latest demo, the "beta" feel is finally gone and alot of useful features have been added. EXT has really evolved into something great. Some essential features I feel are missing are:
Envelope handling like other sequncers. It seems you have to make a separate track for envelopes and assign them. I would prefer envelopes like Logic's, on top of your audio or midi track that can be hidden when you don't want to see them, and they are easily assignable to a list of plug-in parameters.
A simple stereo/mono switch per audio track. Right now the only way I see of doing this is linking/unlinking inputs and outputs. A simple button press would be easier.
Screensets. Anyone who has ever used Logic's screensets knows how much faster you can work with them.
Assignable key commands. Instead of using preset key commands, the ability to assign your own KC's. Very useful.
I am very close to purchasing, I can't wait to try the next release.

My next update, after using XT for a week :
I don't use it yet as a host, will explain why, but i use it as a live setup.
Actually it made one of wishes come true
, playing with my Yamaha EZAG live as midi controller. The Yam has some basic midi problems wich makes it difficult to use in a midi setup.
- When you touch the fret buttons, it sends a midi note with low velocity (17 I think).
- Every 'string' is send on a different midi channel.
- It doesn't send note off messages.
Two of those problems I've easy resolved with XT...
1. Midi channel component to redirect 6 midi channels to one
2. Midi patcher to filter the low velocity notes.
Then a soundfont player, mixer with aux busses, effect plugins and ready we are.
The only problem I didn't 'really' solve is the fact of the no note off messages. For the moment I did solve it by editing the soundfonts I use and deleting the loop part of the sample. Altough this works, a perfect solution would be a component that send automatic a note off after a time you could define. Perhaps somebody has an idea or the skills to develope that
I would pay for it
Now I have to test how stable this setup is, I don't want to crash during a live gig with it...
I didn't use it as a mixing host yet. There are still a couple of things I don't understand. I did record a small track with it and it did work.
What I didn't find out yet is how I import existing wav tracks of a whole song and start to mix, edit envelopes, balances,ad effect plugins... like I would do in Tracktion. To be honnest I don't even know if I have to do it in the sequencer component or in the audio component
But it is a good start

i was planning on making a component like that, actually. my MidiAB switch pack suffers if you switch during a note being held, and so requires note-offs to be sent after a configurable period.
i'll let you know if i get it made any time soon, i've been getting quite into making these tools lately
