As a person who is technically a millennial; go ahead, we deserve it.

Justin? A millennial?

But that can't be, he's intelligent.

:-?

Will that work?
You are too kind.
I wouldn't go that far. Clever, maybe but not intelligent.

I learned when I was young, not to worry about sounding ignorant, as long as it's clear that I'm willing to listen/learn. In pursuit of information, I will shamelessly ask dumb questions until I understand. I mean we all start somewhere, right? :D

"scapegoating"? That's a bit much, isn't it? Pointing to someone to take the blame for something someone else is guilty of, that's scapegoating.

Look, there are people of any generation that are willfully ignorant and/or lazy. Plus surely there are noobs much older than whatever makes a millennial. I think it is what it is.

All joking aside (because I'm no fun), no generation of people deserves the abuse thrown at millennials. It's even worse than the complaints I remember thrown at "generation X".

Maybe you as an individual deserve the abuse... ;-) (there, I'm trying to be fun now), but no single person can speak for an entire generation (damn it, being not-fun again).

A DAW like Ableton Live is much more of a robot than what you can see in this video. Anyone who uses a metronome, arpeggiator or quantisation already uses a robot.

What kind of lazy bunch are you, can't even play in time? Too lazy to practice?
What kind of lazy bunch are you, can't even play arpeggios by hand? Too lazy to practice?
What kind of lazy bunch are you, not able to play exactly on spot? Too lazy to practice?

See how stupid that is?
You're actually trying to argue that having no particular sense of musical time is a great thing because technology steps in to do all this work for you. It may be a boon to development, but that isn't talking about music at all.

Now, there are uses for arpeggiators, where an arpeggio is part of the style, the repeated riff which would be silly to do by hand, it's not a 'by hand' type of musical gesture. There may be a reliance, however on this kind of mechanical thing provided by a machine that does produce a very dead music, and it's done so often by someone that doesn't have the ability to do their own riffs at all so the music is IDIOTIC.

But through itself, the argument that you'll do mo' bettah for yourself having that control of it your own self is anything but stupid. Your argument is quite stupid, and it's an argument for indolence and incompetence.

You are revealing that you are, in fact lazy. Almost looks like proud of lazy at this point, since you've kept hammering on this point.

Everything hard-quantized is dull in my estimation. Robotic gestures may have their place as I indicated above, but if you can't handle anything yourself by your own sense of time, you are simply lame musically. You aren't being a musician. You're relinquishing all control to a clock. It's kind of disturbing to see, the choice to abnegate your own agency in this manner.
