scuse me, i'm scarce on internet collabing w/ dialup, so maybe this is already going or something..
idea is for "us" to select ~20 songs and have as many people as possible do their stuff; hopefully in a complementary, non-domineering sense.. w/ discretion et c.
would it be a first? a cd/cycle's length of works that have all been worked by 50 people? start on it now, maybe next year this time finish?? :p

sadly, this sort of thing works great with reason (damn props)... i'd be interested in collaborating with some people, though. keep me updated... or something

cool idea rurik.
on dial up it is a lot easier if people stick to one host, but can be worked around.it all depends on how willing people are to d/l bigger files.but if something is worth it then its no trouble
the thing ive always found from collabing with people is you nearly always discover and new way of doing such and such
so yeah lets get the ball rolling and see where it goes

50 people per TRACK :D

50 people per track
thats like earth wind n fire
yeah most hosts these days can handle a fair few audio tracks?
perhaps look at it this way, some people create some samples these are then used by others to make some loops, then passed on to some other guys to make tracks and then passed back and forth between whoever for mixing and finalising?
there are more than a few ways around it especially on the time scale your looking at
even snail mail posting cds to each other maybe?

I really would like to join this great event
and contribute to the CD
I´m using now Tracktion as my main host. that would also make a collabo easy,
but I think mp3 is possible, although there might be a loss of quality by converting to and from and to and from and to and from
but
we
will
see
/
hear
if it is open minded I think it can be real fun and also help to get more people together for making a great piece of music

no that shouldnt be disussed
people should just work on tracks they feel happy with?
i know what your saying but if you put all the performers who do on sort of sound together you wont get the organic feel
this is just my opinion of course

...my original conception
was to pick songs of each others we like so that most work would be remixing/enhancing more than from scratch, but who wants to live their life based on conception? :p

concepts in such a big collab project might be good as a starting point or a handle to work from

This sounds like a wonderfull idea.
All 50 on all tracks might just not work as I don't think we'll be able to finish the CD in one year's time.
