Personally, I'm not hugely upset by it? I mean, granted it might not be completely authentic if those waveforms were genuinely part of this expansion board. But I want to view it simply as a sign that they want to release a dedicated plugin for that particular expansion board. This is "SRX Keyboards", so it makes sense that that's what the focus is on.

For me those missing waveforms/samples are not really a problem, i just tried to find out a few more details about which ones were missing in the plugin. As mentioned above those missing ones are all from a single SR-JV80 expansion board (multiple SR-JV80 expansions were combined in some of the SRX expansion boards).Shiek927 wrote:Personally, I'm not hugely upset by it? For many people the most important part of that specific SRX-07 Ultimate Keys expansion might be the Vintage Synths expansion and that one seems to be fully included with the plugin besides tons of synth based factory presets.
The Pianos, E-PIanos, Organs and other Keys (e.g. Clavi and Mellotron) are fully included too.
Besides that there is also a selection of Brass Instruments, Flutes and some Guitars and last but not least also some Drums.
Not to forget that the 1083 waveforms of the JV-1080 plugin (which are those from the XV-5080) are included too. Overall the SRX Keyboards plugin includes a collection of 1702 waveforms/samples.

I wish choosing a different waveform was easier in JV/SRX plugins. Sure you can use mousewheel but you get no overview at all, and the dropdown menu is horrible, really.
If we had a browser like we can for patches (by bank and by category), that'd be sooooo much better. Hell, Korg M1 and Wavestation plugins have it exactly like that - and it's great.

Oooh! the Vintage Synth card is often regarded as the best of all the cards. And I agree that they should have just released the JV1080 plugin with all the cards automatically on board and you can select which one just like the Korg M1 plugin, but c'est la vie!

That's indeed correct and it is my favorite one too.Shiek927 wrote: Oooh! the Vintage Synth card is often regarded as the best of all the cards. To have that one on-board should definitely excite some people![]()
FWIW i just played with a presets in SRX Keyboards called "Analog Bell". This uses the "2600 Sine" waveform for all 4 Tones with a coarse tuning of -12, 0, +14 and +7 semitones for those 4 Tones to do a kind of simple additive synthesis.
In the past i had used that "trick" a few times using 3 Sine Oscs in my Novation UltraNova or with the 2 main Oscs and the Sub-Osc (all using a Sine wave) in my Novation Bass Station II.

Sorry if this was already mentioned, but when I try to enlarge the display for the JV-1080, the last 3 sizes are greyed out. It is an authorized 30-day demo version of the synth. I am using 1920 by 1080 resolution.

I have the full version and I got a FullHD display (1920x1080) too and it is the same here. FWIW if i open the EDIT page of the plugin (with the EDIT button) it uses almost the full height of the screen. Not sure if you get a bigger size on a 4K display but on FullHD this might be the biggest available one.Examigan wrote:Sorry if this was already mentioned, but when I try to enlarge the display for the JV-1080, the last 3 sizes are greyed out. It's the same with the new SRX Keyboards plugin which is the JV-1080 plugin with additionalk SRX samples added.
With the Jupiter 8 plugin i could go up to the full 200% but then it still fits into a 1920x1080 display, actually it uses the full screen width of in that case. For those who did not notice the Jupiter-8 GUI with the latest version is no longer "blurred" at bigger sizes (like in older versions) but looks fine at all sizes now.

I use a 3440 x 1440 monitor on Windows 10.
On my system:
JV-1080, SRX ORCHESTRA and SRX-KEYBOARDS can be zoomed from 75% to 175% and 200% is greyed out
JUPITER-8, JUNO-106, PROMARS, SH-2, D-50, System 100, System 8 can use all the zoom options from 100% to 200%
TR-808 and TR-909 can use all the zoom options from 75% to 200%

I wonder if they will ever sell these plugins separately, as in with no subscription. I know they give you one of your choice after 1 year.
It’s over $200 for a year, but at least you get the one plugin forever.
I have been checking out the D-05, and might get one at some point, but I could get that in software form (minus a few extra features) for just over $200 versus $350 for the D-05.
The problem for me is that I think it should be more like $100-150 for each plugin.

It’s not $200 per plugin, it’s $200 for 12 months of all the plugins plus one plugin for life. It’s not actually a bad deal IMO.

It doesn't SEEM like a bad deal. Until you count together what monthly subscriptions of this and other things would cost you.
Anyway, there's no point in arguing that out. Noone is forced to subscribe. Fortunately, we live in a great, free socienty, which gives us the opportunity to choose what we buy, and what we don't buy. Can't blame Roland for testing a system, and see if it works for them, which it obviously does.

Yes I know that part of it, I just thought it would be cool to just have an "option" to buy a plugin if you want right off the bat. I don't care much about all the other Roland plugins and I don't get to keep them anyway. I would just like either the JV-1080 or the D-50 and that's it, and of course I'd like either of those for life.acid alex wrote:It’s not $200 per plugin, it’s $200 for 12 months of all the plugins plus one plugin for life. Yes, but then, you would also want the SRX expansions, and when the JD-800 comes out, you would start thinking that maybe that one too.Examigan wrote:Yes I know that part of it, I just thought it would be cool to just have an "option" to buy a plugin if you want right off the bat. Anyway, an option to buy a license for life would be a good idea, I agree. Of course, at $240 it would be too expensive.
BTW - Did anyone noticed the new Instrument Manager? They completely revamped the GUI. Looks better, but not as clear as before, and lacks the simplicity of the previous versions. To check what we have to update, we have to go through each instrument at a time (unless I am missing something).
