Hi I want to pin a vst window so that I can reroute the video from that window, but there's no way of doing it because as soon as the focus shifts away from the daw then the @#$#% vst gui disappears.
I had a quick web search and can't find any workaround for this. I'm on mac by the way.
Surely there is some free-ish vst shell etc that doesn't hide the windows when you're not using it?
... I'm hoping to route the video from VST audio analysers directly into VJ software, I'd love to be able to do it in the background without using a second laptop. Can't use a second screen because the VJ software uses that as the output.

An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

There are some programs that add a 'always on top' pin to windows, e.g.
http://www.hyperionics.com/files/
but I don't know if it works for VST windows too.
edit:
Or you may use Reaper which has this pin integrated.

I'll look into Reaper
. (I'm on OSX so hyperionics not an option).
But seriously it's astonishing how hard it is to simply pin a VST open!!!
I'm experimenting with routing video with Syphon etc.

There might be an easy way ... if people knew what DAW you were using they could tell you ...rosko12 wrote:But seriously it's astonishing how hard it is to simply pin a VST open!!!

Can't one just create a 2nd virtual desktop (not sure how those are named on MacOS), move only the VST window to that virtual desktop, then set it as the source for the video capture?
Since there is only that VST window in that virtual desktop, shifting focus won't put another windows over it.
I think I read it somewhere that is how some VJs do it on Windows, maybe it works on Mac too.
