Yes, especially when you can get heavyweights (for life) like Zebra (Zebra 3 on the horizon) Avenger, BioTek 2 and certain others around the $199 mark. Synthmaster 2 and SM One together are a great deal (only $77 at the moment).fmr wrote:Yes, but then, you would also want the SRX expansions, and when the JD-800 comes out, you would start thinking that maybe that one too.Examigan wrote:Yes I know that part of it, I just thought it would be cool to just have an "option" to buy a plugin if you want right off the bat. Anyway, an option to buy a license for life would be a good idea, I agree. Of course, at $240 it would be too expensive.

Well folks, theres a new update.
Roland Cloud Manager Remastered and New FX
With the 5.7 update to Roland Cloud, we’ve delivered several things that we know you’ll love. First and foremost, easy just got easier: Roland Cloud Manager has been completely revamped! In addition to a complete overhaul of the user interface, there’s a ton of new functionality that is both intuitive and informative. We’ve also updated the Concerto engine across all Anthology, Tera and FLAVR instruments with all new effects.
Roland Cloud manager now has 2 modes and runs in your system tray (or menu bar) mode, as well as in full application mode. While running as an application on your desktop, Roland Cloud Manager now provides quick access to relevant news and information in addition to allowing quick management access to your instrument library. While running in your system tray or system menu, Roland Cloud Manager continues to run background tasks like downloads, authorization, checking for updates and many other automatic tasks so that you don’t have to worry about them.
Several of the most commonly asked for features in Roland Cloud Manager are now a reality. For example, you can now set a custom path to store Concerto based instruments, including on external storage devices. Roland Cloud Manager also now allows you to update all instruments with a single click. Rather than having to redownload an entire instrument, binary patching for all Concerto based instruments allows quick and efficient updates. Members with expired subscriptions will now be able to log in to Roland Cloud Manager to see new instruments, news, and updates, although instrument access is still tied to a valid subscription or trial subscription. Even though it seems like a small feature, you asked for it: Roland Cloud Manager now provides the ability to pause syncing and downloading of individual instruments.
New FX and Features Across the Board
In the 5.4 update, Roland Cloud debuted a plethora of world-class effects via the FLAVR instrument, RESIN. As of this release, they are included in every Concerto based instrument across the Anthology, FLAVR, and Tera series.
Here's what's included:
Stereo Delay with tempo sync, wet/dry adjustment, feedback adjustment
Flanger with adjustable depth, rate, feedback, stereo spread, tempo sync and wet/dry mix
Stereo Chorus with adjustable depth, rate, feedback, stereo spread, and wet/dry mix
Distortion with adjustable overdrive, turbo, wet/dry mix as well as several selectable IR models
Reverb that allows you to toggle between classic or convolution reverb models
And here's what's new for this release:
Compressor with variable threshold, compression ratio, knee width, makeup gain, attack, and release
Portamento is now available for FLAVR and Anthology series
As with all Roland Cloud udates, this release was driven by input from you, the Roland Cloud Community. As musicians evolve, we'll be there to provide relevant releases. Have a suggestion for new effects, functionality in Roland Cloud Manager, or an instrument you'd like to see? Let us know!

But who wants the same instruments 'for life' - if that was the case the average user here would only have just a few VSTs and would still be on V1 of everything....add up how much you have spent on upgrades (DAWS and VSTS - Komplete? Arturia?) and see how much 'ownership' really costs over a number of years (that's excluding all the 'no brainer' synths and fx we all buy then never use!....)Examigan wrote:Yes, especially when you can get heavyweights (for life) like Zebra (Zebra 3 on the horizon) Avenger, BioTek 2 and certain others around the $199 mark. When was the last time u-he charged for an update to Zebra? There's the Dark Zebra, but that is optional, and AFAIK it is mainly new presets and filter magic from Diva.SLiC wrote:But who wants the same instruments 'for life' - if that was the case the average user here would only have just a few VSTs and would still be on V1 of everything....add up how much you have spent on upgrades (DAWS and VSTS - Komplete? Anyway, I just meant a license without a subscription. That's what I think of as "for life". Of course, there might be some small upgrade pricing down the road. I just want an option available so I am not locked in forever with a subscription, as once I stop that subscription, it's over. Except... I keep one plugin.
I'd rather have the one plugin I really want right now, with some upgrade pricing down the road, and not have a subscription.

This roland cloud stuff is an unbelievable POS .
Trying to install system 8 and D50 ..roland cloud says it's installed without and option for an install directory ..no install process whatsoever ....
I can de-install it , and then re-install ....but it seems it isn't installed in the first place .

IT seems that the plugins are installed in program files/common files /roland etc...
But only vst 3 , no vst 2 versions of either system8/D50/system 100 etc..which according to roland is also available as a vst 2 instr.
Again , even after changing the install dir. , it still only installs the vst 3 plug in common files
all good ...seems that it automatically created another folder ...

My "revamped" Roland Cloud manager will only find updates to Anthology Orchestra Vol. 1 and 3 (yeah, weirdly not 2). These can now use the new effects but everything else in Anthology, Flavr and Tera still displays "Effects coming soon for this instrument".
I tried logging in and out and closing the manager multiple times to no avail... Anyone else having a similar issue with 5.7?

I personally only have one Anthology installed (the one with the sounds of the JD-800 - and even that one will be uninstalled as soon as they launch the real deal). The Orchestra is the SRX Orchestra so, I uninstalled it after the launching of that SRX (it was only eating space in my hard-drive). The same goes for the Tera instruments - they don't justify the space. Concerto, for me, is useless. The only things that interest me are the Legendary Series. Since these were already all updated before the lauch of this new Manager, I still didn't have the chance to try the update function.Ikalou wrote:My Roland Cloud manager will only find updates to Anthology Orchestra Vol. 1 and 3 (yeah, weirdly not 2). But Uninstall is there. Maybe you can try to uninstall all the instruments that do not update and reinstall them. That's what I would do.

system-100 is great, I leave it loaded in my System1m and play it with my modular
It will probably be my one to own (closely followed by System

They are amazing. That's why even with all the craziness of the Roland Cloud Manager, I'm glad I have access to these plugins.gentleclockdivider wrote:It's hard to resist to succumb to the cloud , because all of these plugins sound absolutly amazing .

V Synth and TB would swing it for many I believe. How about the JDXI and more recent models?
