Hi Jaeson ,how are you setting up key commands in samp????
You can access key commands (Shortcuts as they call them) under Options > Program Preferences . As far as I can tell they don't have macros in V7 , But i don't have macros in Logic either .

While I'm at it I found a couple of very cool features - Varipich and Change Play Direction .With varipitch you can literally slow down or speed up the track in real time just like varispeed on a tape machine
Pretty awesome to see that happening !! With Change Play Direction you just select it while the song is playing and it begins to play backwards !!

After reading all this and the info on Samplitude's site, I'm really awaiting the V8 demo all in curiosity.
A Melodyne thing integrated, all those time/pitch things and (hopefully) better MIDI functions than before - sounds pretty much cool to me.
Too bad there's no Mac versions though. My main job these days is teaching at the local music university and as we use PCs in the MediaLab but Macs in all our three studio rooms (at least as the main recording machines) I'd really like to use something x-platform.
It's allready bad enough not being able to transfer LogicPro files to LAW 5.5.1 anymore properly (their "export to 4.8 format" function is completely f**ked up) and nobody over here really wants to use Cubase either (at least not the producers we invite for workshops).
Some kickass x-platform program might eventually be the right step into a brighter future...

I can't see Magix ever developing for the Mac being as Emagic is owned by Apple and will always have the inside track (ironically they don't seem to be making the most of that connection at the moment ) .Even Adobe stopped developing Premier because of Final Cut .Too bad there's no Mac versions though

Yeah sure - especially since there might be some old-time sentiments between the two companies. As you will know, Samplitude was distributed - almost like a subdivision thing - by Emagic. This only happened a pretty much short time before the Apple takeover...Kraznet wrote: I can't see Magix ever developing for the Mac being as Emagic is owned by Apple and will always have the inside track
Just don't tell me, I had a bunch of close-to-heart-attacks just recently when working with LogicPro.(ironically they don't seem to be making the most of that connection at the moment )
Audio performance is piss poor (I'd say almost less than 30% than on the oldest audio PC I have, an Athlon 1GHz) and their all so shiny Core Audio integration isn't working that well either - the most "funny" thing being that Cubase SX is behaving WAY WAY better in both areas.
So much about developers working "close" to the core coders of the OS.
Still, I'd like to see something more than just Cubase (and perhaps Tracktion, which IMO is worth watching as well) being fully x-platform compatible.
Still making me sad that the most stable (from my experience at least), most x-platform compatible (until 5.5.1) and most elegant (from my opinion at least) sequencer for PC has come to such an end.

I remember that time very well. I think people were hoping that the audio side of Samp would make it into Logic .Then oneday i got home and there were about 300 posts in my inbox from the LUG on that fateful day in JulyYeah sure - especially since there might be some old-time sentiments between the two companies. I read you original postings on the LUG . I can understand your dispair Sascha .Audio performance is piss poor (I'd say almost less than 30% than on the oldest audio PC I have, an Athlon 1GHz) and their all so shiny Core Audio integration isn't working that well either - the most "funny" thing being that Cubase SX is behaving WAY WAY better in both areas.
Yes it still stands up very well against the others even now . The ironic thing was that i switched from the Mac in 1999Still making me sad that the most stable (from my experience at least), most x-platform compatible (until 5.5.1) and most elegant (from my opinion at least) sequencer for PC has come to such an end.
However I think I could get a session done in Samplitude even now , having spent quite alot of time with the demo . The only question mark is how long it would take me to get up to a speed comparable to working with Logic .

You know, I think anybody being familiar with sequencers could get a session done in any of them after some days of spending some time with them.Kraznet wrote: However I think I could get a session done in Samplitude even now , having spent quite alot of time with the demo . I can (at least more or less) easily work in Cubase SX, I could even get some rather complexed things done...
But yes, just as you said, working speed will not be the same.
And then, for me it's not even only about working speed. Logic to me feels like an instrument rather than like I tool I can manage my ways around in.
Call me crazy, but it feels somewhat "organic" to work in Logic.
I never had any such a feeling in Cubase (which I have been using from V1/Atari until 3.5/PC).
However, I need to buy a Mac anyways (for reasons allready mentioned), but I'd be happy if there was a) an up to date sequencer for Windows that I'd like to work with and b) preferably something that was x-platform.
Well, we don't stop dreamin, do we?

That's not crazy at all. In fact that's exactly how I feel when working with Logic. Very much like playing an instrument . All the controls are in familiar places and optimized for my particualar working perferences . I always have likened it to a custom car. You assemble it the way you want it so it becomes very personalized . I've always appreciated that kind of flexibility . I have made no firm decision yet and will be intrigued as to what Logic V7 will be like .With my present setup (Logic and DFH Superior especially ) along with Gigastudio on a separate PC , I can do more than I ever could have imagined was possible.I have a friend who was still doing great stuff with MusicX on an Amiga until 2 years agoLogic to me feels like an instrument rather than like I tool I can manage my ways around in.

It's a bit like being friends with 2 identical twins and you've always prefered one to the other but suddenly she decides your friendship isn't important any more and you are only left with the memories of the great times in the past.Meanwhile her sister and moved abroad and you can only enter that country if you conform to their ideals and have a certain amound of money.Meanwhile her sisters photo remains on the mantlepiece...Ok not a perfect analogy but I enjoyed typing it

..maybe it my midi driver?...or is it surposed to be like that??
