Tibetan singing bowls played properly?

I'm trying to find samples of Tibetan singing bowls actually played as they should be - ie using the mallet rubbed and scraped around the internal rim to generate a continuous evolving and swelling drone - not hit like a mallet instrument, this is more like bowing. Every library I've tried so far has them being hit like bells, although playing can include hits the more interesting sounds and certainly the 'singing' are generated by rubbing and scraping.

Precisionsound has one that contains "swirls". I don't have it in front of me to test, but have tried you that one?

No but thanks - unfortunately those demo tracks don't really give a good impression of what the actual samples sound like. Mainly hearing hits though.jsp1979 wrote:Precisionsound has one that contains "swirls". I don't have it in front of me to test, but have tried you that one?

When I am back to Berlin, I could record some of my bowls... Each bowl has different modes and pitches which could exclude each other... Its such a rich sound world, I always prefer to play their sounds live. Though I did use samples for some algorithmic music...

I’d like to hear that.Tj Shredder wrote:When I am back to Berlin, I could record some of my bowls... Each bowl has different modes and pitches which could exclude each other... Its such a rich sound world, I always prefer to play their sounds live.

I had an incedibly difficult time trying to sample my quartz bowls years ago. Perhaps i needed a drier room to record in, everything came out like 200hz mush. The brass bowls made acceptable (but not great) recordings.
