Or - it could theoretically also be a Reaper issue or an actual bug no ?

Both test scenarios where it happened so far (if I didn't miss) where Win 7 / 8 + Reaper, so someone should test with
- Win 7 / 8 + another DAW
- Win 10 + Reaper / another DAW

and report back to know for sure.

edit:
Ok, following post sheds light...

HMmm ..isn't the benefit of a vector based gui so that we can scale it freely ?
NOt the case with cypher 2

I am testing it here on win 10 , fairly modern cpu , running in renoise ...same RAM issue as mentioned earlier
The ram increases when going trough the presets ..started at 100 mB ..now up to 2.5GB .

Just switch trough presets and keep an eye on taskmanager
Eyeball exchanging
Soul calibrating ..frequencies

Hi, I assume u tried all six or so themes it comes with to conclude ur first two points? Personally I love dark orange and if that didn't exist low contrast.. I didn't like the brighter ones...
I don't think angus is a fan of much tabbing alas... hence the so much info on one page.. Indeed I too wished it was more like say omnisphere where u can get deeper if you wanted to but the main gui isn't too over information cluttered.

Liero wrote:(IMO) the UI design of this synth is just ... beyond horrible. I can't understand that a company as experienced as FXPansion would release it in this state.

- White on light grey for text for very bad legibility
- Virtually no color coding for easier eye navigation / Too many identical gray boxes with text
- Way, way too much information on main synth tab

Can anyone look at this and seriously go "I want to use this synth?"

The ram increases when going trough the presets and the gui needs to re-draw itself .
Started at 100 mB ..now up to 2.5GB .after scrolling trough a few presets...( without actually playing them )

Just switch trough presets and keep an eye on taskmanager..def.something fishy

Win 8.1, Cubase 9.5, got a BSOD on my first run after approx. 25 minutes, didn't understand where it was coming from until I read the latest posts.

roland_rock wrote:Just to confirm, I tried the Cypher2 demo on my PC (Intel i5, 8GB RAM running Windows 8.1 64 bit and Reaper 4) and I get the memory leak issue too (Reaper's RAM usage steadily increased until it reached 5.1GB by the end of the 30 min demo period). Shame - Strobe2, Geist2, (and Bazille & Diva) all run fine on this PC and the CPU usage with Cypher2 was OK - it was just that RAM leak. So it looks like this Win 10 requirement is pretty strict. Ah well, that's the price of progress!
Well... support for Windows 7 from Microsoft already ran out, and extended support (security fixes etc.) will run out in 2020. So, no matter how much people want to hang on to it, it is a phase-out model. Like Windows XP and the others before it.

About the RAM issues, i bet they will fix that pretty quickly. Just wonder how that could slip past the testers.

Bought 5 minutes ago.... :tu:

Great work!

I have Windows 8.1 myself, so I hope they at least can give Win 8.1 users some hope for a fix down the line.

Soon, I think folks will not be able to install anything from Native Instruments or Steinberg if they are not on Windows 10.

Let's just say that i wouldn't be surprised if Cubase 10 wouldn't support Windows 7 anymore. I'd think, at the latest, Cubase 11 will only support Windows 10. That's the way it goes.

I just tested Windows 10 64bit Nuendo and indeed after browsing about 20 presets memory rises from 555MB to about 2GB and after another 20 presets it does rise to 3GB...... never monitored it before, I guess with 32GB Ram is rarely an issue for me.
Reported, but Angus I believe is on much needed vacation.

At some point you will either need to move on or the world will move on without you.

It's a CPU hog as well.

Such is life.
@bbtr, how do you look at the task manager memory usage and know when it is the gui causing it out of curiosity.
thanks
