but if you are gonna want a new computer down the line, modern processors and motherboards might not operate without Windows 10.

because the gui redraws itself when browsing through presets .zvenx wrote:@bbtr, how do you look at the task manager memory usage and know when it is the gui causing it out of curiosity.bbtr wrote:A single instance in Reaper uses 2.5 GB of RAM (mostly for the UI) and the interface gets calculated even when shut down. Is this a video game or a music application?
It's a CPU hog as well.
Such is life.
thanks

Not arguing if it does or doesn't, but how can you tell it does?gentleclockdivider wrote:because the gui redraws itself when browsing through presets .
Not sure in what reality you live but the i7 2760QM is ancient. It's one generation older than my ancient i7 3630QM which is from 2012.bbtr wrote: I have an i7-2760QM processor on a Thinkpad W520 which should be powerful, in principle.
zvenx wrote:I just tested Windows 10 64bit Nuendo and indeed after browsing about 20 presets memory rises from 555MB to about 2GB and after another 20 presets it does rise to 3GB...... never monitored it before, I guess with 32GB Ram is rarely an issue for me.
Reported, but Angus I believe is on much needed vacation.

False. Steinberg officially support Win7, after seeing how many ppl are still running it.....Grizzellda wrote:Soon, I think folks will not be able to install anything from Native Instruments or Steinberg if they are not on Windows 10.

Win7 is not eol btw. Guess how many % of win users are using 7?
Depends on where on the earth you look. About 35% world wide, i believe, but, you'll have to count the people running Windows 7 in China and India to the figure, while in the US and EU, much less people are using Windows 7, and much more are using Windows 10. When Cubase 11 will come out, Windows 7 WILL be EOL, with support running out, and, i'm sure at Steinberg, it will be a big consideration whether or not it will make sense to contine supporting. No matter about our feelings, it's a mere business consideration, based on how many people will still buy and use Cubase for Windows 7. Anything else just won't make sense.cnt wrote: Win7 is not eol btw. Guess how many % of win users are using 7?
Hey, I felt the same way until I bought a new laptop last April. After a long discussion with the builder I gave in to Windows 10. You can turn off all the crap (even the forced updates if you choose to) and I have to admit it has been solid, very solid.recursive one wrote:Guys, what you are saying is... that I need to ditch my beloved win7 and move on? I really can't confirm that... i have a lot of plugins, and nothing lost registration here. One time, i think iLok lost its soft iLok, after one of the big updates, so i had to reinstall it, but, that was it really.cnt wrote:Of course. But the point is, win7 is still very much alive in the daw community. Its stable and dont f**k up like win10 does each major update! Plugin registrations screws up. I use both with Cubase 9.5 with huge amount of plugins. ALL works in Win7. But not in Win10.
