Twist ending: there is no Massive X coming, sorry!

So today NI sent out an advert e-mail with two points, both about Massive

1. Massive is on sale for 50% off
2. Massive now has NI-branded expansions, and three of them are available now.

So think about this for a second.
We all thought there was a new synth coming called "Massive X" because those words, exactly, were written in a leaked Komplete list.

BUT now.... what if 'Massive X' simply meant Massive Expansions...which we now know exist.

Furthermore, why would they start releasing expansions for regular old Massive today, if they had a brand new version of Massive around the corner?

Simple, they wouldn't. Massive X = Massive Expansions, and we've all been wrong.

Maybe it’s a ploy to get some final sales on the current version and entice people to upgrade down the line. I find it hard to believe that NI doesn’t have a new release in the wings for such a popular instrument.

Your wishful thinking seems particularly naive, seeing as the ONLY reason people thought a new version of Massive was coming was because of that leaked Komplete info, and of course that simply said "Massive X," nothing more.

Point being, if we assume Massive X meant the expansions, then in terms of expecting a new version of Massive, we are back to literally ground zero, with absolutely no evidence that NI would be doing such a thing. So I'm not sure why, from that place of zero evidence (plus NI's synth update track record), you would then decide it's "hard to believe NI doesn't have a release in the wings." I'd say it's by far the easiest thing to believe!

The leak lists "Massive X" and "Massive X Library" as two separate items. No idea why they would do that if it were just presets. Granted it is a bit odd to be putting out so much content for Massive if the killer next version is right around the corner.

Oh?

Interesting, didn't realize or had forgotten that bit. Hrm.....the plot thickens a bit.

It's not wishful thinking. I have never used or purchased Massive or any other NI synths in my life. I wouldn't be interested in it unless it is MPE-capable anyway. Just bored and speculating.

Spoiler alert: Massive was just the daydream of an autistic child the whole time.
A well-behaved signature.

What about Vengeance Sound Avenger and Avenger Library... :ud: plot thins out a bit :)

If anybody is working on X, it's the original developer.

I loved that show and they've only ever made the first season available on DVD or to stream. :(
If every KVR member wrote one review a year we'd have 1340 reviews each day!

You should not forget the three question marks in that list, that followed the Massive X entry …

I think you don't understand how marketing works. :dog: They do massive Massive sales just because it's their last moment to sell these products, and it might indicate Massive X is coming right after it. Once Massive X is out, people will grab a new synth and forget abut legacy products and expansions. On the other hand, whoever buys Massive now on sales might turn out to be a sucker.

Alas, 'twas before my time. I just loved that that's how they chose to end it.

...and as well as the separate library, as I posted in the other thread there’s no branding for Massive X or indeed a bundle product, if what was announced yesterday is it.

But hey, could be. Those question marks are a fair point, they might have changed their minds on the marketing side of things.
