Hey guys
I will be doing a sound demo for a sound set I recently did for Fathom. What type of demoes make more sense?
Soundclound or youtube?
The sounds by themselves or with some accompanying.
All the sounds or a cross section.

A demo showing it without external sounds give a good idea of the sounds themselves, then maybe another where you show them in context (so people can hear how they work with other stuff). And soundcloud is fine for that.
Then I would also suggest to record a walkthrough video for youtube where you play through some patches. These 3 combined will give the potential buyer a good overview

Thanks. That is kinda where my head is as well. I have done some demos in the past using YouTube and playing just the patches by themselves. I always felt they represented themselves better! in context. I agree a combirnation of a few maybe they best route.

Not the best demo maker in the world, actually need to learn more about that some day cuz it's what will increase popularity and sales, but would say that many people still requires sound cloud demo as source of inspiration,i mean cool catch composition to motivate them to buy.
You tube is ok but sometimes has opposite effect if it's just showing presets without catchy melody or something,at least my experience is like that.

I always prefer just a single patch played with absolutely nothing else: no effects, no limiter, no drums. Least favorite is multiple patches + others instruments and effects in a song since it's often very difficult to know how much is really from the soundset, and what's other instruments, effects or automation. I also prefer video so I can see the settings and notes played.
That said I'm just about to make my own new soundset demo video. Not sure whether to play all the patches one by one with commentry; play all but have no comments; or just a portion. I like to show all patches but last time it came out to about an hour and several people said they weren't going to listen to an hour of patch demos. Did I lose people by having an overlong video, or gain people by showing every patch?
