I had time to calculate last year. now the numbers are different I think. that time it was like Sylenth - 500-600 banks aprox, Spire - near 1000. My friend has 200+ sylenth banks and 500+ spire's for example.

Last year, Sylenth is out for more than a decade, it got more than 1000 banks released since, most of the Spire banks sell trough their store, what you and your friend got is not proving anything.

Are you both buying those banks?

Given its age, it is still a very good synth, which is some accolade considering the opposition.

Is it the best, does it have more features than some of the newer stuff? Nope... But it's easy to use, sounds good and many musicians don't need a lot of the more obscure features.

If it 'aint broke...

Hah... I should have done that in hindsight. ;)

That very claim is wrong to begin with. Just searched the first half dozen threads in the instruments forum (the one where it would mostly likely appear), not a single hit.
Sounds more like one of those threads where people claim something in order to get a certain reaction, probably advertising or bashing, as the case may be.

Perhaps also because it was easily downloaded and used for free (cracked) along with all the soundsets.

Half the Sylenth banks are hardly distinguishable from the rest. It is a simple synth and new presets ran out years ago.

Spire is far more sonically flexible than Sylenth.

Well o.K. then .
Lot's of good vst's preceded sylenth ,Fabilter twin (original ) 2005 (fabfilter twin 2 cam later ) , reaktor ., altough it's primary modules are now a bit dated sounding ...but hey ..reaktor dates back from the eary generator days 1998 ..
Vaz modular , etc...
SAying that sylenth was the first good sounding vst , is just utter bullocks...somehow shows the guy is just a youngster ...and the world only started turning when he found out about it .

Sure, but that doesn't keep folks from making those banks, every new flavor of month genre there's more banks, almost every vendor got more Sylenth banks out there, than free ones and etc, as much as I love Spire, it's not that popular.

I am not sure who many presets anyone would need anyway. 3,000? 4,000? :o
You can just make your own anyway, and it’s so easy to use Sylenth1.

The only Sylenth preset which is still relevant is Arp 303 Saw. Everything else is a waste of ones and zeroes
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try
