Fair enough - I hope Jules fixes it in Tracktion, because it's a great sequencer in so many other waysSascha Franck wrote: Rest assured, it IS a Tracktion issue. Other hosts don't suffer from those problem.
It has been a Logic problem quite a while ago too, the reason being that the required preset data to be saved inside the song file was exceeding some max. limit.
Now this is stuff from the past.
Do not underestimate Reason...

Reason is stable, and has a lower CPU hit than many VSTs. This can be a real advantage.AD80 wrote:I've never had this happen in Tracktion in over a year of daily use. And VST Plug-ins are often STABLE for me. There is no stability advantage using Reason for me compared to Tracktion becuase neither of them crash. So thats equal. People talk about the Props like its the only company that can make stable softwareheadquest wrote: ......... I agree that Reason is not the only piece of stable software! I use Tracktion, Live and Audition - all of which are entirely stable on my system.
However, I used to use Cubase SX, and have tried demos of FL Studio and Sonar, and had crashes and other problems in all these (esp. Cubase). Also I have used several VST plug ins that brought down my syhstem, notably SampleTank.

Anyways tho, Tracktion and EXT are extremely stable especially when you consider they handle an almost limitless amount of 3rd party stuff. The main advantages of Reason for me (stability and singnal routing) are gone. Tracktion and EXT handle that very well. It may not have as many pretty wires but its much more functional and fast IMHO.
Cant wait to see where the Props take Reason3 or whatever comes next. Depending on the next update (which is taking ice-ages), I'll see wether I even keep Reason on my HD

To answer headquest and soulraka over price/quality assertions - I have no idea. I use one software studio, it does everything I could ever need. The only VSTi I use are the one's I make myself. I use Cool Edit 2000 for audio editing. it will never be updated but I don't care because it meets all my needs beautifully.
I have never heard a better sounding V/A synth than WaspXT, I have never seen an easier to use [yet very powerful] sampler than ORION's, or a more straightforward drum machine than DrumRack or anything like UltranWMS. All the other native instruments are first-class, and a piece of piss to use, and the effects, including the Platinum Reverb and Platinum Diffuse Delay, are of the absolute highest quality. ORION is $200 cheaper than Reason but still comes in a box with a CD chock-full of samples, multisamples and presets on top of the 11 included instruments and almost 30 effects. It makes Reason look a tad shy in the features department and more than a little pricey, don't you think?
You guys crack me up - "when I use it with Traktion", "when I use it with Live4", when I use it with Cubase" - what a joke. I use ORION with Cool Edit, two app's for doing two totally different things, not 5 app's for doing all the same things. I honestly don't know how a lot of you guys ever get anything done.

hmmm...well I cant speak for everyone else but opening up Reason from within Live requires 1, maybe 2, extra mouse clicks compared to inserting a vsti. I dont know about you but I can click a mouse quite fast.

I think BONES' point was why bother when there are easier ways to work...soulkraka wrote:BONES wrote: You guys crack me up - "when I use it with Traktion", "when I use it with Live4", when I use it with Cubase" - what a joke. I honestly don't know how a lot of you guys ever get anything done.

Not true about price. You can pick up Reason 2.5 for ~350$, or even for 229$ as academic package (audiomidi.com). Orion Plat ~ 300$. So, not big difference and if you're student, then Reason is cheaper.

And that's just the start. How much longer does it take to add some of that same great-sounding delay to just one synth in Reason? Or to tweak the cutoff just a little?soulkraka wrote:hmmm...well I cant speak for everyone else but opening up Reason from within Live requires 1, maybe 2, extra mouse clicks compared to inserting a vsti.
In ORION, everything, and I mean every-f**king-thing, is exactly one mouse click away for me and I use it on just one of my two 1024x768 monitors. What do I mean by everything? Every instrument and effect interface, every Piano Roll and the Playlist. One mouse-click away. Just one. That's what I call workflow! Oh, it also takes just one mouse-click to insert an instrument or effect. Just one. BRILLIANT!

But you couldn't use it for commercial purposes. It compares better to ORION Pro at $149. And what about upgrades? How much do you think the Props will sting you for those? I think Rich has only charged for one upgrade ever [because he put in a bunch of stuff he didn't really want to, to keep users happy].overflow wrote:Not true about price. BTW, what I don't like in Orion is it's meters. For example - add synth. Start play...channel meter goes in red, but MASTER meter is just in half of green
And why WaspXT doesn't support legato mode
, otherwise very good synth.

The meters thing is because mixer channels have infintie headroom so there can be no meaningful scale to create for them. Think of them more as activity indicators. They were only put there because ignorant users agitated for them.
ORION's sequencer has something far more powerful than mere legato mode so why would WaspXT need it?

I mean true legato mode when Filter env. don't retrigger (and with portamento time) when each note is playing. Many synths has it - Synth1, Discovery etc...
Fukk, vwery difficult to describe, Madonna's "American Pie" intro comes in mind as an example

Oh that, who cares!?! Several people have asked me to put an envelope retrigger switch onto my synths but I fail to understand what purpose it serves. If I could put it on each envelope separately, so that the filter envelope didn't retrigger but the amp envelope did for example, that could be useful but the other thing is just annoying.
