Cubase SX2 midi input problems .

I Got Cubase Sx2 about 2 months ago to help me sequence and mix loops and phrases i produced in Project 5 . Ive also got a Oxygen 8 keyboard and when i input notes from any VST it seems fine but when i look at the key editor the notes are 4 or 5 spaces ahead of where they should be which is obviously irratating ! Ive got a M-audio Audiophile 2496 and its latency is set at 12ms . Is this the problem ? This setting seems fine for Project 5 and theirs probably an easy answer , there always is !!!

The 12ms delay could be part of it, but setting it for the [Emulated] port also makes it worse on some machines too.
