The saturation was also what "caught my ear" when listening to some sound demos. Sounds great. Saturation, and, in general, distortion seems to be a very difficult thing to get right in software.

Just a friendly comment. Not sure how to judge this as you did not touch the tweak or style tab in echo boy, that's were a lot of fun happens. That said I think it makes not too much sense to compare them both as they have a complete different feature set.
I think CoCo shines really with pitch modulation (when you into this kind of sound), that's certainly one very strong point in this unit.

Style editor is essiential, as it determines the type of saturation, including DM-2, which CC is based on.midi_transmission wrote:Spyart wrote:Here is my comparison in the end of this video. Anyone that pushes Echoboy, will understand that these two don’t really compare wel beyond that fact they are both delay plugins. People get excited about a new delay from U-he, but again... these two don’t compare well, because CC is very limited in comparison to Echoboy and that’s not a bad thing, but it is just what it is. Coco excels at what it was designed to do, but Echoboy in terms of functionality can do much more and is more versatile. Despite that... Echoboy doesn’t replace Coco completely either, so if you like CC, buy it and use it, but don’t expect it to be “better” than Echoboy but instead just very focused on what it was designed to do.

Just playing with the demo here - and getting my head around how this works.
To set up a simple ping pong delay - should I be looking at
Stereo input
And
Cross for feedback?
The "template" uses the Mono-L input.
I just want to get a simple ping pong delay going - and then play around with it (modulation, saturation etc)
I already have Echoboy, but I really like Uhe stuff, so I want to like this (and use my discount code from the newslettr subscription).
I only played with it for a few minutes - but I love some of the modulation presets (chorus, flanger etc)
I know I need to play some more and look how the presets are built, but it's nice to have a simple "mono delay", "ping pong delay", etc - to get started with
EDIT: It's late and I'm a little tired - maybe you do need to make a stereo signal mono (one of the mono inputs), to get it to "ping pong"?
This is one thing I could never get my head around - I like nice simple delays

Thanks glokraw - the file seems to be corrupt though...
Edit, I did find some ideas here though

You can just set one of the delay time sliders to half the second one and that'll get you a ping pong delay (as long as the width isn't zero). So like eighth on one, quarter on the other, with a quarter note base time. In that simple setup, the eighth doesn't repeat every eighth note, but rather the first tap occurs at the eighth with the second tap at the quarter, and on, creating a ping pong.
There's like three ways to create ping pong delays in CoCo, and that's probably the easiest.

I had a good play with it - and I get it now!Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:You can just set one of the delay time sliders to half the second one and that'll get you a ping pong delay (as long as the width isn't zero). Thanks - and to glokraw too.
It's not that hard - I just couldn't get my head around it the other night. Actually, I don't get why the template brings th einput dwn to mono - its sounds good leaving everything stereo
I'm on my way to buy a license

Yes, I have other BBD emulations. But this is done right DSP wise like no other.

Does anybody know what the Key ctrl does?
Them anual says
"The delay rate can be modulated by MIDI note: Try setting up very short delays and turning up REGEN (regeneration). For details about how to route MIDI into effect plug-ins such as Colour Copy, please refer to the host (DAW/sequencer) documentation."
I know how to route MIDI in to a plugin, but what am I expecting it to do here? Which MIDI notes do what?

The manual covers it pretty well I think. Route MIDI to CoCo, turn Key Follow on. The higher the MIDI note, the faster the delay time, the lower the note, the slower the delay time. So in the example mentioned in the manual, you can create tuned resonances by using short delays with lots of feedback, then modulate the pitch of those resonances by changing MIDI notes. It could also be used if you just wanted to quickly change the rate via some means other than automation. I've yet to really use it, but YMMV.jbraner wrote:Does anybody know what the Key ctrl does?

Thanks for that FET - I don't find it to be clear at all
It just tells you to route MIDI to the plug - and doesn't tell you what to do next
I guess I could have just tried it to see what happened, but I'd just as soon use automation.
