I think you'll need exactly 20,000 updates!harryupbabble wrote:... I will only get 106 updates while if I buy it at version 6.0, I will get 200 updates.

Did you try any free daws to edit your 20,000 midi files ?harryupbabble wrote:I've spent zero money. I've never bought anything via the internet. But I am going to buy REAPER 6.0 when it arrives. REAPER is going to be my DAW for life because after I buy REAPER I am never going to buy anything via the internet again. That's why I really need to buy REAPER at version 6.0 because if I buy REAPER now at version 5.94, I will only get 106 updates while if I buy it at version 6.0, I will get 200 updates.
I am only buying REAPER because I owe it now. It has let me edit 20,000 MIDI items. It might have taken me weeks editing those 20,000 midi files using my MIDI editor of choice, the freeware Anvil Studio. Okay, maybe macro recorders/players might have shortened weeks to days, but still.
Besides, REAPER might have a bunch of other capabilities that other DAWs don't have. Batch exporting 20,000 MIDI files in 2 minutes on my computer (6 seconds on Guenon's computer), for one example of "special" REAPER capability. But I don't know, maybe other DAWs could do that too. But in my other thread, nobody stated "My DAW could do that easily."
Tracktion 7 ?
Cakewalk Bandlab Sonar ?
By the way, you are under zero obligation to buy Reaper just because you used it during the trial period.

I have been waiting for an Ableton sale to buy Live 10. I received an email yesterday that says its currently available for 25% off. Trouble is, in the interim, I have really got into Cakewalk Bandlab Sonar which also has a pattern mode just like in Ableton Live, only its playback only, and not able to record loops.
Although I no longer have the gas I had to buy Live, I fear I will pull the trigger anyway, and afterwards regret it.
Buyers regret in advance.

To record the matrix performance, first arm the tracks in track view that appear for each matrix lane.dellboy wrote:I have really got into Cakewalk Bandlab Sonar which also has a pattern mode just like in Ableton Live, only its playback only, and not able to record loops.
Then on the header bar for the matrix view in the dock, is a record symbol/button. If you hover your mouse over this button it says: Capture Matrix Performance = Off.
Left-Click on the button to switch it to: Capture Matrix Performance = On.
Then hit record and get mangling and your performance will get recorded into track view.

Not exactly a waste because I use most of them, but I bought all of Logic’s instruments in version 5 before they gave them all away in 6 or 7. I think all together I spent about $1500 or so. Ouch.

I thought something similar until I realized that if the title was "How much money have you wasted buying VSTs you should have demoed ?" I wouldn't have the same feeling.chk071 wrote:Threads like these are somehow comforting. I always realize that i'm by far not as a bad case as i thought.

I should get into programming VSTs, there seem to be a market for musicians suffering from GAS... Would you buy my VST if I named it GAS-Diet? And promise of at least the functionality of this plug-in?low_low wrote:I thought something similar until I realized that if the title was "How much money have you wasted buying VSTs you should have demoed ?" Or do you think its better to found a GA group "GAS anonymous unlimited" and offer workshops...
By the way I don't regret to pay 1$ a month to the Ardour programmers...
If you look at the price of software not being a price for a good, but a support for the programmers, you simply do not have that idea of wasted money, it feels much better...
