Hi,
Can the oscillators be solo'd or muted from any given page in Rhino ?

I'm currently trying the demo and I'm very impressed with the sound. Very inspirational. However I need to be able to solo/mute oscillators at will. Especially when there is six of them . 8)

I thought that by clicking on the green light in the oscillator tab, the oscillator would be muted but no such luck.

Can it be done quickly without having to go to each osc page and turn the volume slider down ?
I bet it's ever so simple to do...

Thanks for any info.

PS.
If anyone knows if it can be done in z3ta+ as well, since I'm running the demo , it would be great.

Clicking in the oscillator display waveform will mute it. You need to go to each oscillator tab, though.
Alternatively, if you only want to mute the oscillator output (but not its contribution to various FM settings), you can right-click in the associated values in the matrix to mute them.

Hi Big Tick,

What about being able to solo one oscillator by clicking another little LED on the OSC tab, which obviously would have to be implemented (please !) in a future update ?

I use mute while programming my Yamaha SY77. I can access any operator at will (that's the key word here) and switch it off from any of its 50,0000 pages.
I find it very necessary when programming and was slightly disappointed to find that Rhino can't do it in such a quick way. But nothing's lost. What about such implementation of mute/solo in a future update ?
Thanks !

PS.
This Rhino monster might see me abandoning my SY77 for good. Amazing synth, Big Tick, really is.
This and z3ta+ and goodbye hardware !

Added on the todo list for Rhino 2.01.

Have you really ? WOW !
I'm impressed. Many many thanks. I want to see how you will implement it and then you will have yourself a new customer !
Thanks again.

Well, I'm amazed such a tiny feature would be a showstopper for your purchase. But anyway... it's on the roadmap now.

Doesn't right-clicking the appropriate value in the matrix not do it for you EF? The matrix is generally accessable.

Xian,thanks,
I will try the right click. I didn't know about it as I haven't spent too much time with the demo yet, so my knowledge of Rhino is limited.

Big Tick,
My hesitation is due to long ( very long) hours spent programming FM on the Sy77 and being used to switching operators at will, whenever I feel a need to hear something solo'd. Hence, I was a bit affraid that having to flick between OSC. pages just to use mute, would be annoying in the long run.
However, since you said that a (nice ) solo or mute will be implemented, I guess, I should just go ahead and buy it. A few more tests needed though...
Thanks.

Yeah, no problem. Anyway, as xian said, the right-click in the FM matrix is probably more useful than a global oscillator muting, because you can mute away the individual contribution of a given oscillator to the FM algorithm.
