Avoid at all costs, there is a reason it is constantly on 50% sale.
(Pretty sure this is going to be blamed on me, or my Mac hahahaha)
How does Tracktion even stay alive ?

The last straw, is it? Well, that's something for us all to be grateful for.bungle wrote:Another deal came through for labor day, so i thought OK lets upgrade to 9 finally, ten minutes later of being told by the website (Which is actually the slowest webpage i have ever come across) that i can buy only 1, but there being nothing in my shopping cart, i am giving up, you have to wonder how many others are having the exact same issues and just moving on, this is pretty much the last straw now with these people, last bit of support has now dribbled away from me !!
I wish you happiness, peace, and patience.

My wife's MacBook does this all the time .... It's old and was on it's last OSX update when it started doing that ... It didn't do it for Waveform ( didn't try it but I'm sure it would ) but it did it on Google Chrome , Firefox and most of the included Mac applications due to her not listening to me when I told her , her computer needed more RAM and the last OSX update has slowed it down . But you can't tell Apple folks what to do . They also can't backup there iPhones do to iCloud being all filled up either .... You Mac folks are some funny characters I tell ya , all of ya .. I have friends at work that ask me questions about there iPhones and I'm on Android , I always tell them to ask Siri and she'll help you . ... @bungle I know you don't use Logic the DAW as well .pc2000 wrote:Win XP?bungle wrote:Got to be honest, after downloading the latest demo, and seeing this more times in twenty minutes than i have done for the last two years, i am kind of glad their website is crap, this thing still needs to be avoided at all costs, i know the fanboys of this software are terrible, but are they so ridiculous that they are not reporting this garbage or do they not really use the software in any meaningful way, or is the company so poor they are not fixing these issues, this actually locked out the Mac (I decided to test on Mac this time, because the Windows version i tested last time was near unusable) for about twenty seconds before i could get to force quit hahahahahahaha.

It's not that the site is slow, the problem is it doesn't work. It takes a lot of money to pay someone that much to faff a site up that much.bb1r wrote:The site is not always that slow. Maybe some temporary problems.
The email wanted to load images so was pretty cryptic. Most people would stop there. I usually do. But I thought I'd have a shot. There's no way I'm loading 3rd party images in my email. Bad form.
The website didn't work to start with, but I persevered, had the same problems as bungle but then I got it to show up. Then I had to log in. Couldn't log in. Couldn't get them to send me a new password. Totally broken website. Poor form.
I love Tracktion. It's an amazing program. I'm also very impressed with their plugin bundle which might be a bit, what's the word?, 'representative' of other well known plugs, but it does its own take and they are very very handy and nice to work with. Well worth the money.
The program itself, apart from being a nightmare to install (I've installed both 32 and 64 versions) and having lazy incomplete info from Tracktion, sorry "Waveform", works great once you spend another 12 hours getting your vst plugs set up. I admit to being a bit at fault here because it's one of the very few x64 DAWs I've tried to set up.
It's actually pretty logical and nice to work with once you get the hang of it. But once you forget the 'hang of it' it's back to accidentally deleting everything and having to start again. Add another 12 hours to get your VST structure how you want.
Once there it's a dream. Absolutely inspirational and mighty. It crashes now and again, but whatevs.
For reference, apart from REAPER, Samplitude was one of the only x64 DAWs I've tried to set up. And that has its 'strengths and weaknesses' shall we say. Not knocking Waveform. It's a pretty good system but you need to take the time. I think I might have even tried an x64 install of Studio One as well at some point but that was aborted because there in lies insanity...
Then again, that might have been my 'fault' as well what with the whole Administrator/User debacle. Hard to keep up with it all. For me, at least.
As for the support for Waveform, I never got an answer at the forum why it would not remember patches from 3rd party drum machines. Bit of a downer. Almost a game changer. I wonder if it has been solved in this release.
I guess I'll never know.
Frustration over. Vented. All good.
I'm going to spend that money on an upgrade to the Aly James VProm drum machine so it can work on my new x64 installs (yeah, even I am very very very slowly weaning myself of the titty that is XP).
I wish the Tracktion, sorry Waveform boys well. I was even interested in that new super duper synth thing you've been getting rave reviews about. Maybe next year. Tracktion, sorry, Waveform 10, here we come!
The sad thing is you were practically giving away this program with the discount you were offering to previous users. But you couldn't even get that right.
I guess the question remains...

I've always just installed the latest Tracktion (now Waveform) update/version and got to work. Had some trouble now and then back on T5 with some plugins. Waveform 8 could sometimes crash when scanning plugins. Waveform 9 has been stable for me. Upgrades have been seamless and easy.
There's always going to be people who have problems with something. That doesn't mean they're the majority. Doesn't mean there might not be problems, either, but it might mean the problems are rare or even unique to that person's system. There's no way that we'll ever know.
Since they updated their website, which is totally separate from their product, I have seen more complaints online about issues with it.
By the way, the OP is a notorious complainer about all things Tracktion. It's really strange how it's almost personal. On one hand, that's some product loyalty, to stick with it after the years of seeming hell. On the other, why haven't you just moved on by now?

Website response is normal for me now. Probably got an extra high user traffic spike earlier due to the special offer. Some web hosting services handle traffic surges better than others, but it's typically not the fault of the store owner. That is what usually causes issues for websites. Which probably means there is high demand for the product, therefore Tracktion stays alive!
Waveform 9 is running very stable here, and with no crashes or major bugs observed.

I poked around on their website but could not find an upgrade option for me at all, complete bundle aside - full V9 license is on sale for 50$, exactly what they wanted from me to upgrade from 8 to 9. So now my V8 license is bascially already obsolete - except their website has not become so bad that it's basically impossible to find the upgrade offer.
So thanks, but no thanks.

I upgraded from my version Waveform 8 license to Waveform version 9 a few hours ago with no problems.jens wrote:I poked around on their website but could not find an upgrade option for me at all, complete bundle aside - full V9 license is on sale for 50$, exactly what they wanted from me to upgrade from 8 to 9. It even accepted the labor-day voucher, and so I got it half price at $29.50 or something.
Not sure what you were trying to do, but I had no problems at all.

All you have to do is click on a Waveform bundle and the option to upgrade to Waveform 9 appears for $59.
Ok, I agree the website is not configured to the optimum, but hardly difficult to do.

Waveform sounds like a sampler or synth to me...
Just checked their site, doesn't seem to be slower than most other sites.
They do seem to offer synths as well now
