I like Icarus a lot better than Serum. Better filters, warmer sound, powerfull features in the oscillators with a lot of mangling possibilities.
Avenger is a workhorse and something different. For me personally, its sound lacked character.

I also like Icarus better than Serum... there are some sounds Serum does better, but overall, I find Icarus more lively sounding (serum can be a bit sterile) and a more interesting toolset. I like the resynthesis in Icarus better too.
Avenger is (IMO) a not very interesting 'super' synth.

And i really love the fact that there are 2 filters (serial, parallel) in Icarus, compared to the meager 1 in Serum. Although, i like the FX section in Serum way more.

Thanks guys, I currently own Avenger and its great, but I love the looking of the GUI of Icarus, and the demo's sounds nice, even if they are a little lame for the capabilities i guess. Serum doesn't attract me so much.
How is the cpu standing with mulitple instances?

you can figure it all out demoingKelvin92 wrote:Thanks guys, I currently own Avenger and its great, but I love the looking of the GUI of Icarus, and the demo's sounds nice, even if they are a little lame for the capabilities i guess. Serum doesn't attract me so much.

it mostly depends on the kind of patches you use/create... just as reference the demo track i did for my soundset had 28 icarus instances in the same project, more then obviously they were not ALL playing at the same time still... . Also, extra FX's used/compressors, oversamplings, etc.... also play a major role in this so.. demo it

Hm... if you can't get the demo to work, i'd rather wait and see what's going wrong there. Maybe the full version won't work either.
What exactly doesn't work with the demo?

Well I'm not gonna lie to you guys, but in the starting fase of producing I used to download cracked plugins, but it never worked so I just uninstalled it all and bought them one by one. I deleted all those files, but maybe some files are left behind and it keeps saying tone2.keyfile is illegal, while I tried to uninstall and delete all the files and reinstall the demo.

and a suggestion...
also depending on your situation, installs and backups to do and overall PC status, sometimes a clean format can be faster and more productive then going trough all the stuff you want to clean....
