Propellerhead Reason 10.2 on the way (26th of Sep.)

I LOVE that the Reason GUI is all white, bright, light and cheery. I'm SO... tired of these depressing dark grey DAW's.

I hope they never change this aspect of Reason.

Well they could do what many other DAWs do and have a dark/light mode or a brightness slider to suit everyone's individual preference

A dark mode was added in Reason 9, so the option is there.

A dark mode was added in Reason 9, so the option is there.

Props GUI colour options...are a bit of a joke though. A few lines of code that provides 3 presets to choose from, requiring you to shut down and reopen the application. That wouldn't be so bad in the scheme of things compared to what was provided in earlier releases, but the worst part is that it's implementation is half baked with the SSL Mixer not changing to match, which was fundamentally the reason why people were requesting a darker interface in the first place, because it's too bright in dark studio environments. Yes, there are utilities to compensate for that, but that misses the point from a development perspective. The root cause of this is due to how Reason has been cobbled together over the years.

That seems kinda harsh. I like the GUI a lot actually. Agreed there aren't many options to customize but the default is great in my opinion.

I for one am really happy to see the direction Reason is going. In spite of the noise from the odd hater, from my perspective at least, the Props DO listen to their users and have been making good progress as a fully fledged DAW in recent times. I understand that it is not the perfect tool for everyone (what is?) but as someone who basically gave up on Reason some years ago, the latest version has at least got my interest in the product sparked again and it actually gets opened and used now.

Yes, this is true for me also. And it's quite the paradox, but when VST support finally came to Reason, that made me buy even more Rack Extensions because I could more clearly see the benefits of the RE format for my particular workflow (need to sync the exact same project on my laptop and desktop studio computer through the cloud). Going to grab some more RE's now when it's "End of summer sale"...

Same for myself. Propellerhead has been on quite a roll over the last year or so and it really does feel like they are listening to customer feedback. I find myself using it for 90 percent of the projects I work on these days as its just so fast and as stable as ever. This update refines the software even more and just continues to speed up the workflow.
