He has used a badly cracked version which expires after some checks. It then leaves files in different places (registry, Windows folder, etc.) which prevent him from using Icarus again - even the demo, and even a legitimate version bought and registered properly. It just shows a black UI on load. In this case there are two options - contact Tone2, beg forgiveness and pray that they will help, or do an OS reinstall. On a clean OS the demo should work no problem. He can use a legit version too.

BUT, if Tone2 told him what files to delete, this could be exploited as a workaround to keep using the cracked version. When it bombs, just delete this, this and this, install (or just register) again and use until it bombs again. Then repeat.
Maybe they have some secondary checks exactly for a case like this? I don't know.

If I was using all this cracked software I would reinstall windows anyhow just in case of viruses.

I hope so, I don't wanna use cracked software anymore, so I wanna buy it. The demo seems to show up, but the sound is gone. Im curious what the tone2 team will send.

Nah only the keygen were always stated as false positive, but it's get annoying when most of the time plugins dont work properly. So I went on a buying spree and Icarus was also on my list after checking out some videos on Youtube.ATS wrote:mod.eater wrote:He has used a badly cracked version which expires after some checks. Keep us posted! I'm a legitimate user of Nemesis and Icarus, just curious how they solve this.Kelvin92 wrote:Im curious what the tone2 team will send.
Definitely try before buy, because it may turn out to be not for you. The videos and factory presets are quite misleading as to its basic 'sound' or 'character', if we can say it has such a thing. After turning off the reverbs and delays, do you like what's left? Is it souped up from the source? Pimped and soundgoodized? Or just natural and 'flat' character? That is the question.

Yea, very under rated and useful synth.exmatproton wrote:i love this update. The FM, AM and WS (osc -> osc) additions, the new folder structures, small ui enhancements and the bigger text, the double click to default are powerful upgrades.

well that would make sense in a time VST plugins had no demo available in 99% of casesmod.eater wrote:Keep us posted! I'm a legitimate user of Nemesis and Icarus, just curious how they solve this.Kelvin92 wrote:Im curious what the tone2 team will send.

excluding all the physical ilok ones.... wich i never got any despite being interested in some of them because... i can't demo them...
...so; we can't have it all..
it's their hard work at place here too, no one uses a cracked virus hardsynth, etc, etc... and besides the physical aspect of things, there isn't much difference in the ammount of work involved
something to consider..

If it's true then it's really stupid from Tone2 since they just lost a potential sale and maybe a future loyal customer (not talking about me but op, I'm already a Tone2 customer). A lot of people start with warez since they're on a limited budget and don't really know what they need since this is all new to them. Using copy protection against illegal use of the software is one thing but preventing a legal version to work after that is lost sales/customers.mod.eater wrote:He has used a badly cracked version which expires after some checks. Depends how you look at it. A possible conclusion may also be that peopke that use warez are not worth your while. I mean: this guy has not bought anything yet but Tone2 would have to put time in this guy because... he cracked their software.xx JPRacer xx wrote:If it's true then it's really stupid from Tone2 since they just lost a potential sale and maybe a future loyal customer (not talking about me but op, I'm already a Tone2 customer). I buy all my synths and hardly request any support. Now that's a customer you profit from....
