Hey. Let's say I want some reference tracks. If I buy a cd. How do I know the files are wav and not mp3?
or, whats is the best way to get wav files of bands I like?

I have over 1k cds and they are all wav files. If they are put out by a regular/pro label they will be wav files. I really don't know any other way you would get them besides the CD. I guess a lot of people offer high quality downloads nowadays. I still like CDs myself.

You can rip CDs to wav,mp3,flac or any other format you want.

If your downloading Bandcamp is the best for buying downloads as you get all formats for the same price

If you buy a CD, you know the tracks are going to be neither, they'll be the format a CD uses, which your OS will represent as a .cda file.

If you want your CD audio files in a specific computer format, be that .wav, .mp3 or something else, you use specific CD file-conversion software.
