I think the guy who has posted the Massive X video first in this thread should get Massive X for free. It would be fair.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Nope, NI wants you to use Maschine for pads, that alone is obvious.

here is a screenshot of massive x from the video
to be honest massive x looks eerily familiar to reaktor blocks...
from what i can make out from the screengrab:
2 wavetable oscillators
noise generator
filter
phase modulation ?
amp
clock of some sort?
envelope
LFO stepper
LFO "mixed bag"?

Post

I wish they introduced 10-15% off when pre-ordering ;-)..

I'm on K10 and upgrading now - didnt see a point in getting it on 50% sale for £80 to K11 and then pay 159 to get 12...
Best to upgrade every 2years if you can or still learning the whole THING ;-)..But Massive X and Kontakt 6 is a must have now lol...

Yeah it's a refreshed styling that Reaktor instruments are using, but it's its own plugin. Proof:

So everyone that thought Massive X would be included and Kontakt 6 would come later was wrong. And I was wrong on every speculation i made too. Still, looks good though. I'm on K10U so there's a whole heap of stuff in there that i will be wanting come Summer Of Sound next year.

As someone else said, Massive X does look an awful lot like Reaktor Blocks. It doesn't even look anything like Massive even, at least aesthetically.

One other thing that will probably get overlooked amongst all the announcements is this Metapop thing they've got going on. Could this be a successor to Soundcloud?

Even though it's going to be a standalone instrument, I really hope some of it's new features will be added to Reaktor Blocks :hyper:

I'm a bit surprised that it looks so different to Massive 1. And, i also can see a lot of tabs in the bottom panel. Great stuff though that they release a successor. :tu: Hoping for a good upgrade path from Massive 1 now, if Massive X is to my liking.

Massive X is a massive suprise. But as I don't care about the old one, we are getting something entirely new at least. Good NI did not abandon Blocks concept.

They are mentioning MASCHINE ESSENTIALS for A-series keyboards and Maschine Mikro MK3. But on Mikro MK3 page they say it is the same software as higher Maschine versions.

Looks like it is the same, full Maschine software with stripped down sound library?

EDIT: I think I understood their intention. They are basically offering Maschine software as a "DAW", so that no additional software is needed and you can create music using just the keyboard/pad controller and Maschine Essentials.

Loads of filler that I dont need/want, so I wont be updating my Ultimate, but I realy thought I woudl have ended up updating Kontakt, now not so sure.

Kontakt 6 doesn't look like it has had the much needed GUI improvements, just looks like a few tweaks....but they bundle more big instruments and a wavetable synth....I personally doint want/need any of this but would have upgraded to get a better, bigger, more user friendly and fiddley GUI.

Massive X - may be great, who knows, will look again in February...Zebra 3 may even be out by then :-)

My biggest disappointment at all is the new S88 - I have been waiting for this and was sure they would put drum pads (Maschine interface) on it as well as it takes up such a lot of desk, massive thread requesting this on NI forum...but no, so I will stick with my P6.

Its like opening your Xmas presents, its nice and everting but it wasnt what you asked for!

I wish the Ultimate upgrade price was not so high...I'm on K10 and will get 12...every 2 years is perfect.
I'm still learning the synths ...maybe thats why i didnt get 11...but now Yess..and
I'd like to get ultimate and now realizing that its good to go for it but when the 50% sale is on..
and I guess the sale to K12 will be next year I could wait(saving 159£)and get ultimate for 240£ (only80£ more)...
Anyway - NI should really change pricing a little for users who upgrade all the time..as I noticed many wait to upgrade every 2years...

Nope, NI wants you to use Maschine for pads, that alone is obvious.

A lot of people like a clean desk with one keyboard - a keyboard with Maschine built in seems an obvious product as so many (almost all?) control keyboards have drum pads on one side with the notable exception of the NI Range (who make great drum pads!!). I sold my Maschine as it ended up just desk clutter, now use AKAI MPC2 which lets you map the controls and pads to the P6 (or any keyboard)

Anyway, its money saved, no S88 for me, I am sticking with my Nektar P6! Haven't yet seen any reason to upgrade Kontakt in the headline features, but I am hoping to be wrong there- I have to spend something

I understand NI wants people to use Maschine for pads, but it would not have been a bad idea to include (8) pads on (only) S88 MK2 considering its size, and of course the price to some extent.
