I saw no mention to new filters, nor to real analog style emulation oscillators. What about that?EvilDragon wrote:Oh and for all of you clamoring about K6 GUI. The team is painfully aware of that. It is also painfully not easy to modernize it from 15+ years old codebase with oftentimes strange dependencies. It will happen eventually, and likely in stages rather than all-at-once overhaul, but not at K6.0.

K5 had a bunch of new filters which are great and a huge improvement over old filters that were there. No need to change things in this case IMHO. I don't think analog emulation is the focus of Kontakt, so don't hold your breath for that. Monark is more than enough

I think it's a shame that if you pre-ordered a digital version you couldn't get access to the existing products now, with Kontakt 6 becoming available 1st October.

That's because Kontakt 6 is still in beta, a bit.

So instead of tackling something useful we get offered more 'piano' and 'analog synth' sample libraries and they call that a major version update! It just seems to be more of the same unwanted (to me) filler so they can say look how many gigs/instruments/stuff you get....EvilDragon wrote:Oh and for all of you clamoring about K6 GUI. Does anyone think Kontakt 6 looks like a real 'major' update...am I missinhg soemthing, there have been better point updates in the V5 life cycle I think!

"tackling something useful" would result in Kontakt 6 not being available for a lot longer, which wouldn't coincide with Komplete 12 release, etc. You get the drift.SLiC wrote:So instead of tackling something usefulEvilDragon wrote:Oh and for all of you clamoring about K6 GUI. And to reiterate once more. Touching the GUI in Kontakt involves a lot of heavy code refactoring in a very old codebase, with lots of unintended sideeffects just waiting to pop out at ya. This needs to be done meticulously and extensively tested. It will happen eventually as NI is totally aware of it, and they can't afford to mess it up, as it can totally ruin the program if core parts of it break along the way (like DFD, RAM efficiency, whatever). And they don't want to f**k it up.

But they have wavetable now, so, at least they must have some sort of additive engine built in, as well as analysis and resynthesis, right?EvilDragon wrote:K5 had a bunch of new filters which are great and a huge improvement over old filters that were there. And still no sign of Guitar Rig 6.
Since Komplete 12 now has two big brothers, shouldn’t it be called Inkomplete 12?

Nope, wavetables don't necessarily imply additive or resynthesis. It's basically the oscillator from Massive in which you can put your own custom wavetables (2048 samples per wave cycle).fmr wrote:But they have wavetable now, so, at least they must have some sort of additive engine built in, as well as analysis and resynthesis, right?EvilDragon wrote:K5 had a bunch of new filters which are great and a huge improvement over old filters that were there. I do not understand what they have been doin all this time with kontakt 6. Other than some sample libraries (who cares) and massive’s oscillator (who cares, we have massive already), I don’t understand what they have even changed about kontakt.
