It is good to see Thrill in the mix. That might help me make my decision.

Correct me if I am wrong, but as I read it, the new Maschine Micro comes with a severely cut back library of sounds (Maschine Essentials, 1.6Gb) vs the MkII model which can still be purchased with a full 8Gb library...am I reading this right? Because if so, the run out prices on MkII make for a far better purchase (unless there is a hidden advantage of the new tiny screen)

Maybe, I'm not interested in either, but, they've dropped the price on mikro by $50, and they have added the new larger pads and the touchstrip. My guess is that the lower price is going to be more appealing to bedroom producers than anything else. Once you decide to go micro, you're using the computer anyway.jacqueslacouth wrote:Correct me if I am wrong, but as I read it, the new Maschine Micro comes with a severely cut back library of sounds (Maschine Essentials, 1.6Gb) vs the MkII model which can still be purchased with a full 8Gb library...am I reading this right? My guess as well. Let's hopeATS wrote:shidostrife wrote:how long does it usually take from new version release until the first 50% upgrade sale?
just a semi random guess, but next summer.
NI kind of offset the crazy pricing by making the license transfer VERY easy. You can sell all the individual products you have to fund the upgrade. I mean, look at the buy&sell forum right nowzadillo wrote:I mean, you could ask this about any number of products that make up Komplete. There are people who have probably paid $100-250 for individual components of Komplete over the years and they don't get any sort of extra credit/etc. I bought all of the Symphony Series and I don't get any additional credit for the Komplete 12 Ultimate Collectors Edition. It's just the nature of this bundle.Astralv wrote:Hey, sorry if it was already discussed- not able to read all replies... I am puzzled with the pricing. For years I was collecting Maschine expansions. They cost $50 each, I got some at half off, so $25, but for many I paid full price. Now they give them all for free. So how come we, the once that already paid for most of expansions don't get any credit? 50 expansions at average of 30$ is $1500. No credit at all? And If I was to upgrade to Ultimate and not Collectors edition- I don't get to select expansions that I don't have- I would have to accept duplicates? How does it makes sense?
Another question- how long does it take before they start to offer discount on upgrades if we buy Keyboard? Thank you.
There's probably some way for them to try and calculate additional discounts for people who had bought all of these things individually, but it's pretty tough to do.
And I wouldn't say they're giving them all away for free - they're only in the highest collection that costs $1599.

I don't see much reason to update to komplete12. I strongly doubt massive X will do anything, that the competitors won't do. I will consider their update offer again when Friday is black.

Fair point. Not sure about other markets, but in Australia, the MkII is a runout special about $85 cheaper than the MkIII which I think makes it not a bad buy if you are in the market for the Maschine library (and not so much of a finger drummer, which is very much my case).ghettosynth wrote:Maybe, I'm not interested in either, but, they've dropped the price on mikro by $50, and they have added the new larger pads and the touchstrip. Personally, I would rather just buy the software the way you can with Arturia Spark.

Great update, will definitely buy Ultimate 12. Someday
However, Collector's Edition looks like a poor offer. There is not much of traditional "collectors" content (merchandise or whatever stuff you fancy), but only upgraded symphonic series and an abundance of expansion packs. Who needs all of that? Especially for a price.
On unrelated note, NI seems to enter mid-range controller market. New keyboards might be an answer to AKAI VIP running on generic controllers. SO far NI stuff was in premium segment. This could be interesting move.

Damn, I knew I should have bought a 2tb SSD for my laptop instead of the 1tb. Now where am I going to put 900gb of samples?
Ya know, it would be really nice if the drive that Komplete comes on was immediately useable instead of just containing installers that then have to be installed on a different drive.

Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

That collector edition upgrade is only 200 more and that is a great deal for all the symphonic stuff to me. The expansion packs are very welcome to me too since I'll then have a fully loaded Maschine!
edit: $400 for ultimate upgrade - $600 for collector upgrade - from ultimate

You're probably not going to need all of that installed. I won't, but I plan to get separate 1 TB PCIe SSD just for music libraries.Damn, I knew I should have bought a 2tb SSD for my laptop instead of the 1tb. Now where am I going to put 900gb of samples?

Other than Kontakt 6, not really much here for me to become an early adopter on the upgrade to Ultimate 12. Especially since Massive X isn't coming until February '19.
However, I am intrigued by the Expansion Packs. I realize that the packs apparently have drumkits in Battery format, but is there a software instrument anywhere in the Komplete universe that would allow us to play the Maschine kits and beats without actually owning the Maschine hardware?
Cheers

EDIT- I should add that I do own a first generation NI Komplete Kontrol S88 Keyboard. Can the Maschine material be integrated/used on that?
