Exactly. For the consumer, it makes no difference at all.martinjuenke wrote:Who cares?buing wrote:Is this Reaktor based synth?

Just noticed that the Komplete Select, Komplete and Komplete Ultimate have a nice, shifting colour scheme on the box.
Yellow-Green > Green-Cyan > Cyan-Purple.
Yellow-Green > Green-Cyan > Cyan-Purple.

NI have obviously seen how little Waves changed in the V10 update and followed a similar vein for Kontakt 6.Cinebient wrote:Mhhh....i still wonder why it‘s Kontakt 6....it‘s not really a major update. Maybe i overseen some infos?
K6 looks like a better upgrade for developers rather than consumers.

I diont think you have (hope I am wrong) I think it is just a very small incrimental update, but ifd they hadn't called it 'Kontakt 6' the Komplete update would seem even weaker than it is.Cinebient wrote:Mhhh....i still wonder why it‘s Kontakt 6....it‘s not really a major update. Its OK, no one has to upgrade....but I suspecxt most peope (me included as an ultimate user) were expecting a lot, lot moree this time around.....there realy hasnt been anything of nmote for me in the last 3 years other than the Reaktor (blocks) update, which I upgraded to oustsie of my Ultimate subscription.

This upgrade is exactly what I was expecting. We’ve seen a few new effects and sample-based instruments trotted out over the past year or so. I always assume that we’ll get that, a couple of updates to major apps, and a handful more Kontakt or Reaktor-based instruments. They’ve been going that way for at least the past two Komplete releases, if not longer. I’m just glad that they’re actually offering a version which includes the orchestral libraries at a more sane price.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

I think this is exactly the point here. The vast majority of consumers almost certainly use Kontakt as a rompler with premium expansions. NI earn a lot of revenue from the fee they charge to developers to be part of this premium licensed system.rollasoc wrote:K6 looks like a better upgrade for developers rather than consumers.

It's a dev's upgrade.
I was disappointed by the lack of a vector-based GUI to match my new big screen.
Can't understand how this was missed

I think it was already explained that some problems arose during the development cycle that prevented the GUI from being updated for this releasekevvvvv wrote: I was disappointed by the lack of a vector-based GUI to match my new big screen.

Yep. Eventually it will happen, but not everything in Kontakt can be vector-based. All the libraries and scripted interfaces for them are using raster graphics - don't expect any changes there. Even if we get some sort of vector drawing in KSP, there's a metric shitton of libraries that would need updating, some of them very old and some of them even abandoned by devs, and for sure some devs just plain wouldn't be willing to update, and so on, and so on...

Wouldn’t it be able to use both? Like the kontakt GUI itself being vector and allow a raster scripted GUI, which obviously keep the size of that library GUI fixed, while the wrench view would be resizable? Also, by keeping the GUI as it is, they are only gong to have more libraries created for it as it is, so the issue will just get worse. So obviously they need to allow for the old script guis when it does become resizable and vector based.EvilDragon wrote:Yep. Yeah that's definitely doable and is probably the only way it COULD be done.Echoes in the Attic wrote:Wouldn’t it be able to use both? I would assume they’d also offer a script mode where the controls can be vector based for developers though.EvilDragon wrote:Yeah that's definitely doable and is probably the only way it COULD be done.Echoes in the Attic wrote:Wouldn’t it be able to use both?
