^^ Cheers WR, I'll check it out :)

Someone else I'm enjoying now compared to my younger years is Simple Minds.
Always thought they sounded a tad dull, but they've got some cracking tunes now I've come to revisit them.

Good bass on this too!

Sorry, but . Where were you in the 90s?

(I love Song 2 too.)
Yeah ... and Gorillaz. Didn't he do the music for the British Olympics in 2012 too?

No, but he was a candidate. In the end Rick Smith of Underworld did it.

Spot on.

On the question, I'm sure my 14 year old goth/metalhead self would be aghast at the Carpenters singles album. :hihi:
Yeah, my acid-head prog rock teenage self would be aghast at my Carpenter's Greatest Hits CD as well, though I only like a few of their songs. I think it was The Simpson's playing 'Close To You' that made me re-evaluate them.

Another greatest hits package I never thought I'd own is Johnny Cash's. Listened to it once. Respect the guy and all, but with the exception of a few songs, doesn't really do lots for me.

Didn't really dig George Michael, but having read about what a decent human being he was, he has my (posthumous) respect.

Rihanna, some Eurodance artists. Don't even have a problem admitting that. Bless the age. :D

Which ones? It's the music I grew up with, so no shame here either. Went to see Masterboy, 2 Unlimited, Snap! and Dr. Alban a few months ago. :D

Same here. :) Used to get played on every party i went to, so, it kind of stuck.

As for the artists, Snap, Culture Beat, Haddaway, Corona. Never used to know the artists back in the days, but, Googling for the tracks, i at least know a few now. :) It's not what i listen to on a daily base, rather into other stuff, but, every now and then.

+ Capella, Centory, Prodigy, Technocop, U96 and Russian Depeche Mode clones Technologia and Bioconstructor. This is what the list of my favourite bands looked like when I was 14

My introduction to electronic/dance music was this song

Mind you, i still listen to all this stuff every now and then

Hank Williams. I think I may be still too young for Cash.

Eurodance was my first foray into electronic music (I was 10 when I first heard tunes in this genre), so it will always be a part of me. The lyrics are usually something to laugh at, but many of the instrumentals are still surprisingly cool. Quite a few threads out there with people asking what gear was used to make the famous basslines or leads in the genre.

Me. :)
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

May be! I created a project in... 1986. A close look at a certain slice of Americana; a country band.
It was ironic on one level but sincere on another. Anyway, I sang the finale at a show we did at the old SF MOMA Green Room, The Green Green Grass of Home. First time I EVER sang in front of people. And found I could sing country. It really went over. I'm not a singer. Then I found I could get that crack in my voice just like Hank Williams in that key (D). So in the country band I sang a few of those LONESOME thangs. Weird. But I took a close look at that and I became a fan. I cannot STAND his son, though.

Son, grandson and daughter. Obviously that spark was not a genetic one.
