Don't forget about Steinberg HALion Sonic SE, which is also free for the user. You could create instrument libraries for it using the full version of HALion 6 for the sound design. Probably a much richer environment for your intended use than TX16W. Sonic SE is a free version with no included instrument content (or sound design features).

If you had HALion (which is where you can create your own libraries and sounds) Why would you need HALion Sonic? (although, it comes included for free when you buy HALion).zzz00m wrote:Don't forget about Steinberg HALion Sonic SE, which is also free for the user. HALion Sonic SE is esclusively available for Cubase users.

The OP is selling libraries. The buyer could use the HALion player, right? No need to purchase a full version to use 3rd party libs. Similar to Kontakt 5 designed libs, but without licensing restrictions to the full version of K5 only.

.. but as far as I know, you need the Steinberg dongle to run the HALion player, no?zzz00m wrote:fmr wrote:If you had HALion (which is where you can create your own libraries and sounds) Why would you need HALion Player? Well, the OP question wasn't about a platform for selling libraries, but yes, I guess that would work for selling libraries (although the library installation is still convoluted, when compared with Kontakt, IMO)zzz00m wrote:fmr wrote:If you had HALion (which is where you can create your own libraries and sounds) Why would you need HALion Player? No. I am running Sonic SE with DROP CRE8 from Sample Fuel without a dongle.

Correct about the original post, but he explained in a follow-up post. His libraries are already available with Kontakt format programs, and he was inquiring about branching out to a more accessible platform for non-professional users.fmr wrote: Well, the OP question wasn't about a platform for selling libraries, but yes, I guess that would work for selling libraries (although the library installation is still convoluted, when compared with Kontakt, IMO)
The main problem with Kontakt libraries that I can see is that you need the full version to access the inexpensive or free libraries available from 3rd party sound designers. Not everyone has the full version of Kontakt 5.
The libraries designed for Kontakt 5 Player require the sound designer to pay a a licensing fee to NI for the Player. So the extra cost usually needs to be passed along to the buyer.

Not totally accurate. HALion Sonic SE is free to anybody, without content. https://www.steinberg.net/en/landing_pa ... _free.htmlfmr wrote:

Falcon also seems to be an impressive instrument. Can you create sound banks oe UVI powered instruments for the UVI Workstation (free) with Falcon? https://www.uvi.net/uvi-workstation.html
Or do you need to license the UVI Engine from UVI for that? https://www.uvi.net/licensing-third-parties
I have used the UVI Workstation with a free sample library, and it appears to be somewhat similar in function to HALion Sonic SE.

UVI Workstation only reads UFS files, AFAIK. So, you would need to license the encoder from UVI.zzz00m wrote:Falcon also seems to be an impressive instrument. Can you create sound banks oe UVI powered instruments for the UVI Workstation (free) with Falcon? https://www.uvi.net/uvi-workstation.html

Used to be Kontakt but in recent projects it’s been pretty much purely Falcon.
