I agree, but at my age I cant say it's been that way all my life. Over my years I have sworn off many companies swearing I would never buy from them again only to have something new from technology that had me buying that name again. I'm cultivating a dysfunctional relationship with Amazon. I really hate the whole idea of Amazon but I want shit delivered fast and free so I started up with it again. It's not a relationship with Amazon as a singular entity, it's a relationship with a number of entities selling under the umbrella "Amazon".
Except for Amazon Prime for streaming content which appears to be "Amazon" per se.
Several things there I wanted to see over a couple of years, but it was like oh well, it's Amazon so I guess I'll miss it. Now I'm watching the things.
But it's a dysfunctional relationship kind of with America. For instance USPS boldly lied to me about a delivery which never happened. I have it documented, Amazon apologized for a "carrier delay" which "occurred" on Thursday, which matched USPS tracking. Then on Saturday I get an update informing me it was left on my doorstep around 9 hrs before the notice of the occurrence of the delay where they admitted they didn't actually know when it would be arriving. And USPS tracking scrubbed the original and replaced it with the lie.
It's kind of hilarious now but it rather pissed me off. Their success rate getting shit to me is not all that high to tell you the truth.

I like NI, but I'm not likely to buy the new drum 'n bass instrument or the Tim Exile stuff, it just isn't 'me'. But I did buy Massive around 8 yrs after I first heard of it.
I buy selectively and purposefully. It's easier to talk about which entities I will never buy from. A lot of what we buy is not unique and there's competition for that slot.

exactly, i may already own everything company a has released, it might all be amazing. but if they released a 303 emulation, doesn't really matter if it nails the original to me, it's not something id personally use so wouldn't buy it.

None that would make me turn off my ears, suspend critical thinking and blindly open my wallet. There are some companies that I have been very impressed with and I look forward to their product announcements even if I don't purchase.
