It seems that Bitwig Studio from an interface perspective, is one of the most polished looking design wise of the Daws available to use on Linux platform, but beyond that...how do the other features stack up when compared to that of use on other platforms...? What's missing... and what.. if there are any, any advantages of the Daw being on Linux ?

Pros:
- No cost for OS.
- You stop whining in Studio One threads (sorry, couldn't resist). :D

Cons:
- Linux.

Post

Pros... linux
Cons... limited vst plugin choice

Post

Pros:
Linux
Runs better, with lower latency and/or higher devices count
More stable (the whole PC)
Fewer distractions
No f**king updates on the mid of the session

Cons:
Fewer VSTs
Windows VSTs, but using wine and the like

Post

For me:

Pros: Linux (I quite like Ubuntu), limited vst plugin choice (limitations work in my favour creatively), my girlfriend won't borrow my laptop as much

Cons: iOS integration will likely suck, using Traktor may be problematic (not sure; I still need to investigate that)

Just spent the last few hours on Linux... I use to run an earlier version of Bitwig on Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon, but the latest version of Bitwig is borked with the stable release of Linux Mint 18.3 Silvia Edition ( released 6 months ago), requires 3 dependency files, but even if you do have them installed, Bitwig Studio still refuses to install correctly by requesting them... the updater fails to find the required files and thus terminates. Trying to run Bitwig Studio vie Wine doesn't work either... So yeah... the Bitwig experience in it's present form is crap... now I think that a big con. On Windows 7... the process just works....

Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia is a distribution based upon the Ubuntu 16.04 code base... as are other distributions out there.. Ubuntu is like a platform in which operating systems are spawned from.

Just to let you know Waveform 9 and Tracktion 7 work really well on Linux and all their plugins and Synth work on Linux. I use Waveform 9 to get the waves and I use BWS for live performance loops with the rendered files.

Bitwig is my DAWs and UHe and Tracktion Synths are my Bae. I maybe buy one synth a year. REMEMBER SELF just one synth a year!
