I updated my Amplitube 4 and Fulltone collection,
and authorized them, as it was in a new wine setup,
and used the Custom Shop 'restore my gear' option
load previous purchases into the new A4, in my case,
the gear from Ampltube Fender LE, that was bundled
with 1st generation Fender Mustang usb amps,
Fender Twin Reverb, SuperSonic, and MH-500 amps,
which are by themselves capable of a great range of tones.
An acoustic-simulator stomp is now in A4, gotta try it out
later on

now has it's own dedicated forum on the main page.

The reaper devs have done a great job in a short time.
Jack Winter and osxmidi have added crucial insights
into making the most out using Reaper in linux,
with a wide array of software and hardware coming into
the discussions. Existing linux topics have been continued
in the new forum, so current trains of thought were not derailed.

Andrew479 at the linux Reaper forum mentions some details
for using Reaper in a rooted Android phone. Pretty cool, I hope
he keeps pumping out success stories, and Reaper team
keeps extending their push into non win-mac territories.
Some ARM based synths will come in handy, perhaps
sooner than later!

I made time to try the cross platform Monique monosynth demo,
and it's quite nice. I liked running two instances, with the same sound,
one with legato, the other without, and extending the release envelope
on one of them. Also adding a third, but with a different octave setting
yada yada.

Some nice sounds, and inbuilt preset management, pretty good value
at the current $49 price, with lots of controls
for a good sound designer to make use of.

Got Ezdrummer V1 working in wine/reaper. It's now
legacy software, since Toontrack have released V2, but it's
still worth having, and using it is easy.

No problem using Toontrack's Program Manager,
which someone mentioned works fine, and it did
for me, also. Handled the download, install, and authorization
in just minutes. Plus their support helped resurrect
my quite ancient and broken account!
Pretty impressed by their whole operation.

Been trying the EZDrummer 2 demo today, it installed
and runs fine in Mint 18, with a stock wine-staging 3.13
from wineHQ, and really is ez to use, with hours of youtubes for
the details. It's mainly drag-n-drop, or click on kit elements,
to modify them, or their uses, and midi files can be made
and exported from Hydrogen, and then placed
in Toontrack's user midi folder, found in your standard
linux Documents folder, which wine links to from
.wine/drive_c/users/me/My Documents.

Stix CM drum machine plugin from xils Labs is registered and working in wine/reaper,
a very nice teaser for $5. Has a nice grid to enter beats, along with a surprising range
of kits and patterns, even a randomizer, which works best at slow bpm settings,
as it populates the grid with a very busy jumble of hits. The gui has three sizes,
a nice touch for such a full featured screen.

To access your Zinio purchased CM magazine software content,

announcing V5 is out, and bundled with a new plugin,
LegacyQ, for $49

About LegacyQ, the email states

"The new AVA LegacyQ is a plugin version of our original MPC digital equalizer: an EQ that began as a digitally-controlled analog circuit, and was later adapted to digital while being used in ultra high-end post & film facilities worldwide."

Looks like a good offer for current users to upgrade.

The developer knows his stuff, so these should
be useful for lots of musicians. Demos avaliable on all,
sound dropout every 60 seconds, no hissSSS

An awesome bargain regardless of the platform, nice catch.

I've had the (no longer sold) SSL emulations for some time. Didn't really
expect to see such a good sale so I had to buy them all.

Certainly a must for those on Linux...

The dev has a business forum here, but keeps busy
elsewhere, so hopefully now that Reaper, Bitwig, Mixbus, U-he,
discoDSP, Airwindows, and Moddart have maintained linux support,
cross-platform devs will take advantage of communicating here in various locations. A good report from one platform's customer,
can lead to sales on the other platforms, the more the merrier.

As a musians work environment,
I'm happy with so much, Reaper is here, Bitwig is it's
own Rock of Gibraltor, Mixbus get's regular updates,
discoDSP got his health back, U-he keep innovating
and improving, wine is far better than a year ago,
and important developers seem to be communicating
better and more often. Long established projects like
Guitarix, Yoshimi, Zynaddsubfx, Hydrogen, Carla,
Calf, and Qtractor keep getting new features and fixes,
and the level of information and number of solutions
presented in forums seems better.

Hopefully VCV-Rack and the MOD project will meet their
awesome future expectations.

One thing I'd love to see would be a master audio control panel,
where alsa, jackd, and pulseaudio could all be visualized,
configured, activated, and connections established
from one gui location. This would make setup easier for
all linux users, and especially for mac/win users to add a linux setup.

A full-featured competitive preset management system
for LV2 plugins would be another wish-list item.
But that's one of a few chicken Vs egg scenarios,
which are hard to deal with for the developers,
who often have coding hours for only one or the other.
A deep pocketed sugardaddy or two could fund the defeat
of such scenarios, but I'm not holding my breath.

Linux as an operating system made by free people,
will always have it's dinner table strewn with forks
and on some nights, bent forks, such is
the nature of independant egos always seeking to create
the perfect system, the best solution, or define
some great new functionality, with eyes on the code.
An apple or msoft employed coder is in a very different
realm.

LinVst plugin wrapper coupled with the past years wine improvements, and the official Linux Reaper release,
is a gamechanger for people on a budget, who just want
vsts to work in their linux setup. When your biggest hurdles
are choosing among hundreds of plugins, and then
sorting through tens of thousands of presets for the
purrrffffecttt ones, it's time to don the choir robes
and sing some serious refrains of 'Oh happy day'...

This youtube from Jousboxx covers installing wine-staging,
FL Studio, and Xfer Serum synthesizer, in linux,
and shows workarounds to some common issues.
Nice to have the Serum demo up and running
in wine/reaper!

Got the newest Fathom bundle, 2.21 on sale
today 10-09-18, and again on 10-12-18.
Support for microtuning is added in this update

It's working in wine 3.17/reaper 2.95, some fun sounds
in the newest soundbank, 32 punchy basses,
some can be used as-is in the upper registers.
Others will benefit by some editing,
wavetable mods etc for such things.
