Looks like he never made any money from it, while his designs wereaudiothing wrote:I wonder if I can really use thatHermetech Mastering wrote:Audiothing Baxandall EQ

IMHO it might be a nice tribute to the inventor to use his full name
for once, rather than a truncated version of it.

It would be a nice tribute indeed. I'll think about that, thankspekbro wrote:Looks like he never made any money from it, while his designs wereaudiothing wrote:I wonder if I can really use thatHermetech Mastering wrote:Audiothing Baxandall EQ

In any event, definitely a nice opportunity to tell a little of his story.audiothing wrote:It would be a nice tribute indeed. Seems he was awarded a $25 watch by the British Sound Recording Association
for coming up with that. Certainly seems a bit of an unsung hero, in the
area of analog circuit design.
Even if only on an about page.

Great idea, I'll definitely do that. Thanks.pekbro wrote:In any event, definitely a nice opportunity to tell a little of his story.

Any updates on this??audiothing wrote:We have been working on a Baxandall style EQ plugin for a while now.
The interesting thing about Baxandall circuits is that the bands are usually affecting each other, so even if on one potentiometer you have a +20dB boost, it might be a completely different value once you move the other one. This interaction is sometimes considered "awful" on DIY stompboxes forums. To avoid this side effect it's possible to split/separate the bands using opamps, the results is a more "stable" version where the values of the potentiometers are exactly what you are getting, no interferences.
There are lots of different implementations and schematics out there, we've decided to focus on a three band (shelves + mid with q), and we also emulated the standard and the split behaviour (with two slopes).
This is just a small teaser, as we have been super busy working on several new products and updates, and we don't know yet when we'll start beta testing this:
Name is of course temporary, any suggestions?

Still in development, but I had postpone it to concentrate on updates and other releases. No ETA, unfortunately.jbarish wrote:Any updates on this??

Sorry, too lazy to read the first 4 pages. Has anyone compared the Bax with the Maag EQ2??
Clearly the Maag doesn’t have any HP/LP filters. I’m just wondering how the shelves compare when used in a similar context.

Actually how about doing parallel filters, instead of series and then summing the results?? Is that viable approach??jbarish wrote:Any updates on this??audiothing wrote:We have been working on a Baxandall style EQ plugin for a while now.
