Is there a secret hidden place somewhere where the "pros" share all those oldskool samples?
Is there a huge torrent around?

How to get them?

Example 1:
https://nnatapes.bandcamp.com/album/housed

Example 2:
Jim Morrisons "black polished chrome" sample.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEptCS9s6JA <- yeah its there, but with music.
Whats the real source of the "acapella"?
"KiNK - At Night" <- no music in the sample.
"Emmanuel Top - Turkish Bazar" <- no music in the sample.

Example 3:
"Luke Vibert - Heard It All B4" describes best what i mean. :)

No, there is not one secret vault where the “pros” can help themselves to all the best “oldskool” samples they want, while we mortals are left to scour the thrift shop vinyl bins in search of their cast-off scraps.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

There are hundreds of thousands of free killer "oldskool" samples on the interwebz, but you're gonna have to search 'em out yourself. Hey, that's part of the fun. Good luck! :D

Its called "crate digging" ... find your own samples. Buy some records.

Did Emmanuel Top use RX 7 in 1995 to get the Clean Voice of Jim Morrison?

And: https://nnatapes.bandcamp.com/album/housed (https://nnatapes.bandcamp.com/album/housed) ?
Which Vinyls do i have to buy to get all those samples? :)

Post

well i mean, someone already got those samples.
the nice thing about finding your own samples is that they lend you their special sonic fingerprint.

everyone remembers Love You More by George Duke, even if no-one remembers what it was actually called.

Those pros went to that old skool called record store, they just used their own resources and never had the idea of mimiking second hand. Its first hand sampling, no need to share anything...

Yes, he drove his Mazda RX7 to Paris to capture The Lizard King's squeaky-clean voice. The secret's out now.

Yeah. He sampled it in Ableton using his laptops builtin microphone ...

I do have a Doors sample tip.
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

In additions to vinyls I can also recommend checking out old public domain movies. Lots of cheesy lofi vocals and stuff to be found in there.

Tell me about it. Zero-G still exists though, and you can try and find some legacy stuff on their classics page:

https://zero-g.co.uk/collections/zero-g-classics

Otherwise, happy hunting.
<List your stupid gear here>
