Not the most simple of synths in my selections here, but I really like Saurus, OP-X Pro II, Repro-1, and also Dagger sounds great.

Or... use a complex synth of your choice and just don't use all of it's millions of features.

Anything that's too complicated to do anything with apart from clicking through the presets and maybe adjusting the ADSR. Just about anything really.
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

exactly!
take reaktor, use one oscillator, one filter and a couple of modulators. simples, but no one would ever call reaktor a limited synth :hihi:

But its presets are completely crap, totally over the top. :dog:

I like those heart-monitoring sine arps in hospitals :hihi:

So basically you mean like a "sketching synth"?

I usually like to use Romplers like the Synthmaster player. Although that sounds go good I end up keeping that sound and building around it.

And it sounds great
A well-behaved signature.

the way I see it, the "limitations-synth" can be nice to have for sketching and casual noodling, but it has to be usable in a serious project without compromise on quality, and allow building sounds from scratch.

Like my Violin?
A limitations synth has to be expressive, then all other parts can be simple...
MPE forever!
